There's a lot wrong with that article, beginning with the word CANNONT.  Does WMUR otherwise run frivolous junk like that?

Off the wall comment.  A few decades ago, New Hampshire was seriously feuding with New York over unpaid parking tickets.  As I recall, the problem was that hyphens and dots were significant characters on New Hampshire license plates but were just like spaces in New York and elsewhere - inserted only to enhance readability - so New York ticket writers would leave them out when recording New Hampshire license plate numbers and that resulted in New Hampshire incorrectly identifying the owners of the ticketed vehicles.  It got really testy between the New Hampshire and New York motor vehicle departments and they stopped cooperating at all for a while, which was a good thing for us scofflaws.  That was back when Mel Thompson was governor and was trying to get us nuclear weapons.  If push had ever come to shove, we could have blown them away.
