Request from Rich Paul:

Can someone dig up the Institute of Medicine study that invalidated the gateway drug theory? I believe it was 1999.

Also he says there is a study from somewhere that found that alcoholics that smoke cannabis are better able to stay off alcohol.

He says that the first one is more important but would like to find them both and send to the attorney. If you can dig me up some links, I'll send to her.

If someone can step up, please post a response, otherwise I'll try to make time to dig around soon.

Thanks!

P.S. Rich says it would be cool if there were a service that allowed google alerts to be sent to a prisoner for a particular topic on which the top four results are printed every so often and sent. Maybe something for MTJ?

If he was in fed prison he could have internet access
Your fed tax dollars at work ..., the ones the IRS doesn't spend on drugs :-)

gateway theory???   There's a study done by UNH and the University of Pittsburgh too, both cast doubt on the laughable gateway theory.   I'd post them, but I have to go knock off a liquor store to buy some heroin.

Marijuana Policy Project is a good site for cannabis info, stats, studies, etc.
Also I believe RAND published something debunking the gateway effect a decade or so ago.

The most powerful drug for some people is power over others, it is very addictive.

NORML had this -

Okay, I didn't really go to a liquor store.   ;D  Speaking of liquor stores and "the children", there is a daycare in a strip mall in Bristol, NH right next to a state liquor store.

Teen use usually goes down when pot is decriminalized or a state accepts medical marijuana.  http://www.mpp.org/issues/teen-use/

Um, general appellate theory states that new issues can not be brought up on appeal.

It sounds like he intends to attack the judge's statements at sentencing.
