Be careful what you wish for. They my have wanted even more spending.

Those usually are the very people who don't understand gov't and therefore are intimidated to participate but, are the LEAST likely to be able to afford the rise in taxes, thus effectively causing 'ethnic cleansing' among the owners of homes in any town.
That is how Bedford then becomes a haven for the rich....the kids who were born here can't even afford to come back and live here.

When some of our people canvassed, some of these ignoramouses became angry and demanded to know why should *they* vote? It was like it was an imposition on them to ask them to even though they did not want the spending. They acted like they were being inconvenienced. WE tried to simply put it -- you have the right and duty to vote to decide whether the town will spend money at YOUR expense. Do you want 1/3 or less of the voters to decide for you? Amazing, but you gotta bring it down to that level. Some just assume there is nothing they can do about it.  :o :o

Nothing is so inconveniencing that being priced out of your own home...

Yeah, they fudge the numbers somehow.

Yeah, they fudge the numbers somehow.

We figured it out by taking the money spent and dividing by the actual number of kids.
At the time, the state said it was $7K and we came up with $12K.
So you can bet in most cases it is about $4K off....

I'll be that's why Hopkinton is being praised for being the one of the 'best' schools, -- it's based on money spent. We all know that is a lot of hokey.

"Fudge" is putting it politely. Funny how the latest data available from the state is 2003-2004. I guess it take a while to make fudge at the NH Department of Education.

I checked into what the qualifications were to become school board of they year was a few month ago. Unless you were a member of some state group you did not qualify. I think it was the NH School Board association
