I'm the only one in my house who watched Battlestar Galactica and I'm dying to discuss the latest eps with someone!

Yep.   I liked the first series a long time ago as well.   The current one is better technically, but I really wish they'd made an attempt to maintain continuity of the old series even with mostly new characters than this "reimagining" of it with major changes to it.   They could have made it w/o any Galactica reference to it at all and it would stand alone as a good sci fi.

I'm sure not linking it was a conscious choice. I didn't like the idea when I first heard about it, but after actually watching it, I don't mind the re-imagining.

I never acctually saw the first series.  Hear plenty about it though.  My major grip right now is how the current series is changeing from the first seaon.  It seems the focus has changed a lot.  It's become far more interpersonal, with the Cylons being an after thought, and the relationships they are working on are confusing and convoluted at best, IMHO.

I'm sure things will swing back to the Cylons soon. I've heard that there's even a episode coming soon that's told from a Cylon point of view.

Also, you've got the Cylon-Human baby that's got to be born sometime soon.

I don't know though, I wouldn't mind an episode here and ther that's devoted to people and the coping, because I think that's important, I just find it odd that the last, what, 3-4 eps have been about mainly Starbuck and Apollo?  Maybe it wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't so oddly confusing as well.  It's just odd, Lee has this thing for a..well, working woman, cause she reminds him of a women he lost, but he has a thing for D too and also kinda for Starbuck...all at the same time.  And Starbuck has a thing for a dead guy and Lee....but not in the same episode....and then there's D, who was pretty hot on Billy until a few eps ago, now she doesn't want Billy she wants Apollo, like everybody else on the ship it would seem, and won't tell Billy untill he proposes...it just seems like everybody has a love triangle, and that's just kinda wierd to go over back to back like this.

Although, there may be a point to highlighting this, the whole, Humans suck, maybe the Cylons are right angle.  I suppose we shall see....

Yeah, that whole thing seemed contrived to me in order to justify his actions against that mob guy. I'm still not sure how I feel about that whole situation.

Yeah, I didn't get this either. Now that I've seen last weeks episode I know why they did it, but again it seemed a little too contrived. I think it would have made more sense if it had been another guy, maybe not one of the main cast.

This one I'm ok with, because it was established, or at least alluded to early on, and it makes sense.

Yeah, I do agree that they need to get back to some action, and not the romantic kind.  ;D

I saw the miniseries a while ago and just watched the first episode of the first season on dvd a few hours ago, it's  a great show I just need to catch up.

Agreed, it was established, and yet, there was the episode with Scar that shows she's still got a thing for the dead guy.

I guess that's just it, too much of this is contrived, all at once, when it could have been more skillfully interwoven into the over all plotline and over alonger time.  We have too much crap happeneing to too many people too fast.  I could see maybe ONE of those plotlines being plausable with someone, like Starbuck, who I hate to say, has major issues.  But 3 people, all at almost the same time?  Too contrived.  It just seems rather dissapointing since the first season and a half didn't have much of anything that felt contrived and now suddenly, 3 eps in a row that just don't mesh well.

I really want to see the first half of this series again, maybe it does fit in the big picture somehow that I am missing...that and the first part just rocked my sockes. ^_^

True, but Apollo is the guy she can't have, while the other one was the guy she did have and lost.

Starbuck being torn between the two makes so much more sense to me than all this crap with Apollo lately.

Oh completely, but they wove that into the plotline over time and with some realism and it makes total sence.  We've been watching her do this for most of the series.  Apollo's thing with the...working woman I could see, because of his near death thing.  Having some trouble dealing with that makes sence, as does his sudden realization of a mistake he made and can no longer fix because she's dead.  They could easily take the line that he was suppresing that whole thing until near death forced him to start dealing with it.  If they had spent more time introducing the working woman into his life, maybe working it into a few episodes, like 5-6, it would work.  But they had to do the stupid black market thing instead, which just made it go to fast.  The thing with D makes no sence at all, except that the guy playing Billy is leaving the show for other oppotunities, so maybe they felt they needed to divert her attention?  Why not someone else then?  Like that guy on the bridge, heck if I know his name.  They don't do enough with him and he seems like such a nice guy.

I think you mean Gaeda (sp?). That would have been good, because there are rumors that he's a Cylon.

I have the first season on DVD and yes I really do like it; however I don't usually watch thing twice so I will probably be selling the DVD pretty soon if anyone wants to make me an offer, PM me.

Actually I was a big fan of the original when I was a kid, and I still find the original very watchable !

Really?!?  Wow!  I never would have guessed.  I like his character a lot.  Then again, I loved the Boomer character too, she was probably my favorite.  I was really upset when she died.  The Sharon cylon though, I don't trust her.  She doesn't have the same internal conflict that Boomer had.  She's totaly in on the whole thing.  I hope Gaeda isn't a cylon.  I have suspisions about Ty's wife Ellen though.
