Ian, you should try to get a link over at the WTP website. This is an audience that you definitely want to attract. But watch the anti-Christian lingo. They seem almost identical with the tenants of the Constitution Party.

We're not anti-christian, we just are anti-moral-law-passing christians.

I thought the Constitution Party's main goal is to eliminate more freedom while lowering taxes  ;D

You mean they don't like gay people?

I'm not exactly sure what you mean by this, Ian.  Christianity is explicity NON-JUDGMENTAL, by direct edict from the Christ.

However, it isn't possible to seperate Christianity from morality, as Christianity is a morality-embracing religion.

If you mean you don't like judgmental Christians (ie, those who pass judgment on others), then I'll concede the point.  If you mean you don't like Christians who try to use government to enforce morality, then I'll likewise condede the point.

If you mean that you want a Christian to be completely seperated from any sense of morality, then nothing could be more inherently unchristian.

If you mean that you want Christians to shut up about their sense of morality, and trying to show the world the superiority of Christian ethics -- well, we are to be the salt of the earth, the light of the world.

How about stop claiming a monopoly on morality?

Caleb

Christianity doesn't claim a monopoly on morality.  Scripture is clear that everyone (believers and unbelievers) is conscious of a moral urge.

"For when Gentiles, who do not have the law, by nature do what the law requires, they are a law to themselves, even though they do not have the law. They show that the work of the law is written on their hearts, while their conscience also bears witness, and their conflicting thoughts accuse or even excuse them." (Romans 2:14,15)

the classical liberal claim is that every human has the capacity to act equally moral.

this is represented in the statement "all men are created equal"

"By nature" means that they do "have the law."

Pat,

The Law, in the context of Romans refers to the MOSAIC Law, ie the Law given to the Israelites.  What Paul is saying is that the Law given to Israel was not known, in that form, to many people of the nations, and yet it is clear that that same law is inscribed on their hearts.  In other words, you don't need the Mosaic Law to know the Law - God has put it in the heart of every man, woman, and child.

Thus, for a Christian to claim a monopoly on morality would be a very foolish thing.  And, to be honest, I don't see a lot of Christians making that extraordinary claim.

I've heard the show enough to know that this is what he's referring to.
