Somehow, we missed this bill slipping through.

Governor vetoes bill affecting electricians

Concord ? Gov. John Lynch vetoed legislation yesterday that would have allowed a master electrician to supervise two apprentices instead of one.

Lynch said the change would undermine public safety and reduce the quality of training that apprentices receive.

?No states in New England have less than a one-to-one ratio between apprentice and electrician, and some even require greater than one-on-one supervision,? Lynch said in his veto message.

Lynch said he was joined by the Bureau of Electrical Safety and Licensing of the Office of the State Fire Marshal, the Department of Labor, and the State Apprenticeship Council in opposing the change.

Lynch said he also was concerned the change would means fewer apprentices would complete their apprenticeships.

Greater than one-on-one? Gee how many on one can you get, them their electricians are a kinky bunch.

Maybe we should raise it.

I don't want to see any less than 7 electricians training one!

Why should we be deciding how many students a electrician can have? Shouldn't the free market decide that?
