What?s not to like about New Hampshire?

Since you asked, the property taxes, hands down.  I just got my first bill:  "Welcome to Keene, now pay us $2800!"  (This only covers 6 months.)

Ending property taxes is going to be a critical fight, that should happen sooner rather than later.  Ending them would be a great way to attract more movers.

Are you going to pay it?

FTL_Ian

Yes, until we can get others to refuse as well.  Plus, I'd kind of like to be there if they decide to take my house from me.

Can someone please post a link to this First 1000 Pledge?  This forum is the only place I've heard it mentioned.  I am about 10 days away from signing the FSP Pledge and if all goes according to plan, about five months away from moving.

I will be moving at the earliest in 2 years after I graduate and the end of '08 at the latest. This is for sure, regardless of the effectiveness of the 1K pledge don't worry. BTW, I'm raising interest about the FSP in various circles, but there have yet to be any sign-ups at least AFAIK. BTW, as per tonight's show, I have a jacket with "Emo Slits (R)" :D Don't worry they were built-in and my cousin bought it for me. I don't cut by I once dated a chick that was in a really broken family and was quite messed up; she had many scars.

I recommend throwing away bills from organizations that you don't support.

There are a number of ways to reduce or even eliminate this burden. In my opinion, Florida's intangible wealth tax is much worse, being next to impossible to avoid. Virtually all of New Hampshire's taxes can be avoided, making it the ideal location out of the 50 states for tax avoidance and wealth creation. In fact, I made NH my home decades ago for this very reason.

It's really not the point of who's worse.  We need to be fighting for the ideal. The ideal is no property taxes. That's what we should be fighting for.

Abolishing the city education portion of it should be the first battle IMHO

I'll be there, in a bathrobe, to lay in front of any police cars/heavy equipment.

That could be the proper attire for bulldozer stopping. :)
I will bring you a towel.

Ooh! time for Vogon poetry:

A bug flew into my eye,
My fleshy green eyelid was no match for it.
The sting was annoying,
but the bug really felt bad.

It doesn't rhyme.

That's not real poetry!

I wouldn't say it isn't real poetry, I would say it isn't real VOGON poetry.
you see I was very able continue breathing after reading it, I had no desire to off myself while reading it, and in fact the imagery it evokes is quite... well...poetic.
