Commonality of Interest in Russell's arrest with Chris King

As I noted in the Nashua Telegraph just a few minutes ago, it is time we band together to support each other as far as our shared interests go.

You can see how the government screws little people in graphic detail later tonight on http://justiceforkids.net when we launch "Then and Now," but for the moment, Russell and everybody actually TAKE TIME to watch "American Lawyer #1" either here at KingCast.net:

http://kingcast.net/KingCast/Video%20Podcast/AmLawI.html

or here if your get a broken quicktime frame.

http://ia300239.us.archive.org/1/items/American_Lawyer_Part_1/AmericanLawyerPartI.mov

I successfully defended a man for tressassing who was exposing clear cut corruption in the Columbus School system -- just as Russell was hit for a tresspassing/First Amendment sort of offense last week.

Here's an excerpt from the Telegraph comment #420:

I think the law should be changed in New Hampshire to accurately reflect the law of NAACP v. Button, 371 U.S. 415 (1963)

http://christopher-king.blogspot.com/2006/06/kingcast-presents-syllabus-of-court.html

....such that any Civil Rights Group (Including the Free Staters at NH Underground for example) may issue a Demand Letter to a police department without fear of reprisal. The JPEG's referral attorney notes in this post:

http://christopher-king.blogspot.com/2006/06/kingcast-presents-not-guilty-by-naacp.html

.....clearly show I was doing what the U.S. Supreme Court says NAACP/Civil Rights organizations should do, so where the hell is my crime?

I know the Free Staters are not exactly down with the NAACP, but this issue is bigger than that, and we need to come together and to recognize the area of mutuality of interest. Button applies to them as well!

That's what my whole life is about. Bringing people together -- not apart -- to press the government for responsible conduct. Arresting Free-Stater Russell Kanning the other day, BTW was irresponsible conduct, IMHO.

good thinking christopher....we gotta hang together or separate.

If you have some kind of event or activity related to your cause and want some of our group to show up, i hope you'll post it on the calendar.   That doesn't guarantee participation but it helps!

I'm kinda confused about your case and all, has there been any media coverage of it to which you could point us?

Christopher King

It is so very confusing, and part of that is because the State and the NAACP knew they had no case, so they kept compounding it by charging me with all kinds of nonsense.

But this is the core of it all right here from the Peterborough Transcript:

http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a335/christopher1/c7ffbf8b.jpg

And of course the Transcript has recently noted that Chief Dunn, who the town has tried to pay to go away twice, is toast -- As I noted in another recent forum entry, Bill Oswalt is acting Chief during Dunn's "indefinite medical leave," and if you think that Chief Dunn is really going to return to his post, you prolly wouldn't make it too far in Vegas unless you're on damn fine poker player :)

Dave Ridley

Christ now I understand a lot better what's been going on!  I read the article all the way through.  I see no accusations in the article that would worry me, even if they were true!

"order from the state of ohio that he stop practicing law,"  my ass, who are they to decide who practices law there, let alone NH?

Keep up the good fight and sorry if we are a little distracted from your case by the whole Russell Thing.  Over the long haul this will just draw in more activists to learn about your story of course.

Also it's always nice to have new allies from unexpected directions; never would have though our first interaction with NAACP folks (or former NAACP folks) would be so supportive

To be clear:

Ohio can tell me not to practice (although you should really read the case that precipitated all of that here):

http://christopher-king.blogspot.com/2006/07/kingcast-presents-columbus-case-that.html

But the whole argument I'm making is that I wasn't practicing law in the first place, again pursuant to Button:

http://christopher-king.blogspot.com/2006/06/kingcast-presents-syllabus-of-court.html

......nor did I represent myself as a licensed attorney, as one of the lawyers I telephoned recognized in her notes:

http://christopher-king.blogspot.com/2006/06/kingcast-presents-not-guilty-by-naacp.html

So the upshoot then, in my opinion is that any of the free-staters can write a Demand Letter to the authorities for what happened to any of you. It's all suggested in Button, and I see no reason why it doesn't apply to everyone.

How can a Civil Rights organization (including NAACP or Free Staters or ANYBODY) petition the government for redress without being able to issue a monetary demand for crissakes.  And some of the language in Button even goes to the fact that most lawyers are afraid to take on these battles!

I wasn't afraid and look what it got me:  Watch the new video:

http://justiceforkids.net/video.html

Anyway, NOW you see how ridiculous my case really is.

Peace, and Good Luck to Russell.

Christopher King

There's a whole lot in common even though we are hardly in lockstep politically.

See, what the gub'ment really fears is the dissolution of factionalism between dissenters. Gosh knows, we could actually GET SOMEWHERE with that sort of unity.

Amen to that!!!

Word. See they kept me so bent out of shape over the past year I haven't had time to attend any of your trials/tribulations though I mention them from time to time on my blawg.

Between you guys, Michael Gannon:

.....and me, we're really showing the unsavory side of NH in a major way.

Peace.

Caleb

I like to think we're showing the good side too.

A customer today (who had no idea about who Russell is or that I know him, etc) saw the protest that was going on today.  She told me that she saw a "tax protest" outside the IRS office, and as she was going into the Post Office saw "a Keene Police officer and two federal police officers" talking about them.  She said, "I was thinking, `Why can't they just leave those people alone!  They aren't harming anyone.'"

NH residents get it, for the most part, I think.

Caleb

So noted, and thank you for staying positive.

I must say, the common folk on NH stood by me as well, so that is a Good Thing.

Have a great weekend!
