I will be flying out to NH to check it out before I move there, I arrive on the 31st of August, and leave on the 7th of September both out of the Manchester Airport. I want to see Keene and Manchester. I am gonna be in NH on the 6th, which I think is when Russell is supposed to be  scentenced, so I want to do something involving that, other than that I would like to meet some porcupines, see a movie in a movie theater (I do this in every state I visit) and visit the capitol. Other than that I have nothing planned out, so I am seeking suggestions.

For consideration, I am 25 years old, I will have a rental car, I like driving, and I like quirky, kitchy, odd things.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Hi.
I actually still live in RI, two states south.  Labor day weekend I'll be camping / rock climbing in Bar Harbor, Maine.  Just over the border, if your into climbing.  Should be a good crew there, newbies welcome.  Kevin, if you lurk here, we'd love to see you.

I just marked Russell's sentencing on my calendar, so I may as well ask for the week off and stay up in NH, myself.  My gf (Beth) and I typically camp in North Conway.

We haven't found a permanent place to land yet in NH, either, and we are up there often.  So much to see and do (and climb).

For meeting people, there's the Merrimack Valley Porcupines meeting on September 2nd in Manchester or our weekly meeting in Keene on Sept. 5th.  If you want to come to the Keene meeting, we'll turn it into a meet and greet and get more people to show up.

Tour the Budweiser plant in Merrimack and get two free beers at the end of the tour (the tour is free to take).   :beer 219: :beer 219:

I would love to come to both meetings. I spend so much time listening to FTL and reading these forums it would be nice to meet some of the people who I read about or hear about.

Unless it is different from the Budweiser factory tour out here in Fairfield you can actually drink 4 beers. They give the choice of 2 beers, and then they select a few people to do a taste test of what is "good" Budweiser and what is "skunked" Budweiser, the people selected get two cups of beer, one skunked (it's gone bad esentially) and one of fresh budweiser, then you take a taste of each and are asked to figure out which one is bad and which one is good. then they sit ya down and you can watch a movie, and then at the end of it all they give you a certificate declaring you to be an "Honorary Brewmaster" if you happened to figure out which bud was skunked and which was fresh. The trick is to hold on to the 2 extra beers provided for the taste test, and drink them.

A personal anecdote that might show off the "I like doing quirky things" aspect of myself, the Budweiser factory in Fairfield CA is located about a mile from the Jellybelly factory. No matter how much you might think Jellybeans and Beer go together, they don't. Personally, I think the "end product" of such an un-natural marriage is what it would look if a clown threw up.

Either way, I like going on factory tours, and I will write this down also.

if you feel like checking out the north country, my wife and i live in ossipee and you are welcome to stay with us for a night if you'd like. might be cool to check out the white mountains, which are only like an hour north of us.

This is gonna be cool. My wife Dana and I are touching down in Manch 10am 9-2-07 for a four day scouting mission. Tentitavely I'm thinking Sat in Manch, sunday romance in the White Mountains, Monday in Concord and Tues in Keene. Unfortunately we fly out early on Wed so we won't be able to stand with you for the events of that day. We can pray for Russell's well being from 30,000 ft. so we might have a better connection.

Socially we like live music, bar bands that play Blues/rock etc....a place with a micro brewery is a plus :)
Even silly Karaoke is fun. We are simply folk.Pizza, Beer, Darts, Billards and ..oh yes, dismantling oppressive government!

Our apartment in the millyard of Manchester was about a block from Jillian's. They had pretty good bands out on their deck that we could enjoy from our living room.

There's an endless supply of antique kitsch on Route 4 in the Seacoast area that you can bring home to your friends. ;)

I don't know what your budget is, but there is an automatic weapons range in Manch. It might be a fun way to celebrate your arrival in NH, or eliminate any stress that you may have about leaving.
I'm not sure if any orchards will be open when you get here, but that is an authentic New England experience.
The state house makes a nice visit, and the NH historical society is right next door. What movies are going to be playing then?

If you are already in the area, I'm hoping to be in Rumney, NH to climb Rattlesnake Mt this weekend.

It's sport-climbing nirvana.
