Nice Story!
You use a .45?  Doesn't it jar your wrists?
You are not much bigger than me and I have to fire a revolver because those automatic grips are so dang wide.

Good job, Jenn!

But please... somebody tell  Genie to change her grip, before she loses a thumb.

It's good to know more people, especially women, are arming themselves

I am female, with small hands (ring sizes 4-6 if that helps) and I shoot .45.  Try the Glock 36.  I adore it.  Small enough for carry/conceal, fits my hands perfectly, and if 6 rounds of .45 doesn't stop an assault, I figure the last round's for me.
Plus, it's *fun* to shoot.

9thmoon

Ugh. Please tell me you don't actually carry a handgun in your purse.  :(

Her thumb is not blocking anything and has long as she doesn't move it up, is safe.  But yeah, it makes more sense to place the thumbs together and in a different spot.

No I don't put the 45 in my purse, I have a fanny pak, made to carry it and a holster

I do however have a 9mm that fits in my purse, let's face it sometimes there is no where else to put it, when you wear a skirt...   ;D

As I said she messed up some of the info, I am also not a nurse, I am a LNA

Actually no, the Ruger P345 doesn't jar my wrist at all, I also have a S&W 9mm it has a much thinner grip and holds more rounds than a revolver.  As I said in the article, I think it is important for a woman to carry the firearm they are most comfortable with, it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks.  What is important is your comfort level and lots of practice  :)

She's in no danger with the .22, but it's a very bad habit to get into. Plus, you can't form a proper grip for accuracy like that.

If she tried that grip on a pistol with more recoil, after about the second shot her grip would slip enough to put her thumb in the slide's path.

"Lose her thumb" was hyperbole. But if she keeps shooting like that, she's going to lose some skin.

Great work Jenn!   Gotta keep that pro liberty ink flowing...

My girlfriend is getting a P345. I think they shoot great too. I always thought Ruger autos were crap until I tried that one. it's a little hefty for concealed carry though.

Heh. I carry a P97 daily. Yeah, it's hefty. When I find an extra $869, I want a stainless ParaOrdnance WartHawg. Much more compact, 10+1, and can take 14 round mags as backup.

The Rugers are built like tanks, both their semiautos and revolvers. They're solid, but they'll never wear out.
