There was an article in the Manchester Union Leader yesterday about the establishment of a free trade zone, or agreement, that would open the borders between ME, NH, VT, and NY (on the US side), and the Atlantic Provinces of Canada. It spoke of the need to up-grade transportation for both rail and road transport. It was dubbed "Atlantica". The point of the agreement was that these regions have a lot in common, and should ban together in an open borders/trade agreement.
With the exception of NY, (unless you are talking of way upstate NY), I have always thought the Northern NE states, and the Atlantic provinces would be excellent partners in a Confederation of States, i. e., their own country, composed of Sovereign States, with each Sovereign State handling its own affairs, joining together only for the common defense.
I am interested to hear what others think of the idea.

There is a meetup group headquartered in Mass.  dedicated to discussion this.  Jim Perry knows about it; I'm technically a member but don't remember how to find thier site.

That group is Mass. centered as I recall. I'm not interested in joining with Socialist Mass.
