Reagan cut marginal tax rates while at the same time closing loopholes that effectively jacked them back up again. Then inflation was also worse under his regime them Carters and deficit spending went through the roof.

Pat's right. We were prosperous in spite of Reagan's actions. Not because of him.

His walk didn't match his talk.

Rothbard's got a couple excellent articals about him. Don't know where they are now.

Many of today's American "Taj Mahal" exhorbitant schools seem to reflect communist China's schools. Here's a Chinese senior middle school:

Well in NH this is what happens so quickly if you don't attend Town Meeting and get involved and actually  VOTE...    :evil4:

And....sometimes you do all that and it happens anyway

Uh, didn't reagan begin the war on drugs?

I don't want another reagan. I want to buy my weed legally :)

I can't remember when there was no war on Drugs.  It preceeds Reagan.

reagan gets an F all the way across the board.

i cant wait to start squatting in some empty newly built house.

imagine dictating to home builders what you will pay them to take a house off their hands.

eh. well, it's just swinging back is all, really. we shouldnt live in a nation (nor should anyone) where a 3-bedroom house near a big city costs over $300,000 easy. thats just silly. we all need to live somewhere.

Most were already prohibited, but his administration oversaw the active "war" against them

Reagan was the "Just say NO!" president.  Boy, that worked so well!   ::)

We should start a new slogan. "Just say NO to substance regulation"

On the bright side, "there haven't been any earthquakes lately."

Bah, don't jinx me! My CA condo should be sold within a couple of months, hopefully. THEN they can have all the earthquakes and liberal B.S. they want here.

Actually, it did.

Drug and alcohol useage among teens went down considerably during that campaign. The emphasis on social pressure and education, instead of just enforcement, was a good thing.

Later, especially during Bush and Clinton years, we reverted to enforcement over social pressure, and drug use climbed again.

is that because, back in the 80s, the media was as manipulated by govt as it is now or is that because, now, the government is manipulating the media more than it was back then?

either way (and we know one is true), i dont buy any of it. in my hometown, drinking skyrocketed in the 80s and so did cocaine at the high schools.

and if the bush and clinton years had actually gotten better on their war on drugs, the republicans would have put all the credit on reagan for helping the delayed reaction, just like how we all judge economies of new presidents.

it didnt work, it's not working, and it's never going to work. just ask the past ten thousand generations of people.
