Is there a way to buy gasoline in advance?

....couldn't find anything on the net about this.

You could buy crude oil futures, but I don't think that's exactly what you had in mind. :)

Build an underground storage tank and put gasoline in it.

Good luck building it. ;)

Russell Kanning

you can have a big tank and get it delivered ... but since you don't have much acreage at your place ... I recommend futures. :)

It might not be a good idea to buy and store large amounts of gasoline anyway.

It's not that difficult to put gas in a clean container with a tight cap and minimal extra air space. Nor would it be challenging to add a stabilizer to it. Storing it in a cool environment is not much of a problem.

I say, "Do it!"  :pitchfork:

Just keep it away from potential fire hazards, since a few gallons are equivalent to a stick of dynamite.

I know you meant "buy at a set price in advance of delivery", as is done with heating oil.

But as for storage... I keep 45 gallons in milsurp cans, with Sta-bil. It's mostly for the generator, but to keep it fresh and rotated, I fill up my truck from the cans and then buy new gas. I keep it in our outside storage building.

I hear that PRI-G is a better stabilizer than Sta-bil, but I'd have to order it. I can buy Sta-bil at Wal Mart. Since I won't be keeping this gas more than six months, I'm not that worried about it.

That seems like a simple way to keep it decent .... rotation.

dada might just want to turn funny money $ .... into something real .... that he will need.

Consider moving up to a diesel.  It is safer to store the fuel and in a pinch you can run it on Bio diesel, home heating oil, kerosene, yurpintine and with a conversion, used fryer oil.

I don't think there are any gas stations doing this in NH. It is being done other places in the US. You pay for up to 1000 gallons or so and then go fill up as you need it.

Cathleen and Don keep an extra years supply of gas for their car in a couple of thimbles behind their house.

Thimbles? They don't drive very much?

Russell Kanning

They are both very light ... they drive a toyota .... that is a hybrid ... and they drive conservatively.

If we could just get rid of all these hills in NH, then we would be all set.

Tunnels!  We can pay for it with the economic rent money

Brilliant, Lloyd! OK Frank, fork over the rent, I've got tunnels to build.
