I do prefer the mile marker exit numbers. It tells you so much more.

Cathleen
And saves money when they add exits.
There is talk of adding another exit on 89.... and that means renumbering.

cathleeninnh

We are working on a new exit here on I93. It will be 4A. Solves that problem.

Cathleen

Lloyd Danforth

That is better than, say....Exit 39 & 1/2

That's what they do in MA.  Redoing the numbers to coincide with the mile markers makes so much sense, though.  I never even thought of it until I drove up to Maine and they had changed the number system on me   :-\

At least the Interstates tell you what mile you're on . . . every two tenths of a mile.  How much did all those little signs cost?

Every other state has them every tenth of a mile... so now NH gets to brag that it "saved" NH taxpayers 50% on interstate mile marker signage!

They're every mile here. No fractions.

Ah, boo!

If I recall correctly, most all the northeastern states have markers every tenth of a mile.  Not only that, but some roads in NJ have evenly-spaced white reflectors that occur even more frequently.  I don't know what those are for, though (never thought to ask about it).

Sorry to stray back ON-topic, but...
The usefulness of having a wide network of early movers is perfectly illustrated by what's going on right now with the fight to legalize marijuana in this state.
We urgently need people in a slew of places to call their Reps... NOW!!

Not every other state. Almost everywhere else has only one marker per mile. 1/10 mile markers are pretty rare. They're generally confined to urban areas.
