So a huge event happens in Concord NH and the Concord Monitor.... who were invited to the event.... gave about 3 inches of a AP article.

A few weeks ago they ran a huge article from the AP that had dozens of errors.  Now a huge event in their town where they can clear up their concerns and they don't even go..... ???

I even placed a phone call to the newsroom on Friday, to find out (as a visitor to the town) if they had any info. about what was happening. First person I spoke with didn't know, but the answer I received from another young lady in the department was that it was a "convention of free staters". The eye-rolling she was doing while saying this came through the earpiece.

They were aware.

if the news doesn't come from someone inside the government ... it isn't real

I picked up the Monitor and all I saw on the front page was John Edwards this and John Edwards that. I threw it down in disgust. This is a newspaper?!?

Hey.... It was nice meeting you this past weekend!

Maybe an LTE..... from a future resident would be nice.... (hint hint)

There will be a time when we holding something enormous and we can Bar them from it.  Then let the reporters we allow in to report on that!

mappchik

Won't a LTE from a future free state mover be ignored?

Maybe a quick note about the friendliness of the locals, and the open welcome when I mentioned I'm thinking of moving my family up here? Complete strangers around town were very happy to give me directions, suggest towns where I can be close to grocery stores, but not too close to heavily populated area & traffic. (Being in one of the worst commute cities of the country, I had a struggle to control the giggle at the thought of NH having heavy traffic.) Allows me to toss in a reference to all the recent movers & NH native I met at the Holiday Inn, where they were gathered for a forum.

I'll see what I can do.

Dreepa

They post letters from out of towners.

Lloyd that is a great idea.... hmmmm CM barred from LF 08 ?

Anybody want to read the initial draft of my note, and tell me what an awful writer I am?

I'll read it  -- but I consider rocketman the true board expert on writing. Post it here and maybe he'll take a look too.

I'd be happy to read it too.  I have the distinction of having dozens of letters to the editor published completely unedited over the years.

Cool. Thanks. I had a couple of political comments initially, but took it down to this:

I am considering moving my family and business to the northeast next year, and was in New Hampshire on an early scouting trip this last week. I'd like to say thank you to the people of Concord, and everywhere I went, for making me feel so welcome. Any request for directions was met with a smile, patience, and additional suggestions for everything from neighborhoods to restaurants.

The day after I arrived in Concord, my hotel filled up with Free State Project members who were gathering for a Liberty Forum. The timing turned out to be perfect. I had the opportunity to meet state representatives, real estate agents, and to talk in depth with both natives and recent movers about schools, jobs and many different towns in the state. They are incredible salespeople for the state of New Hampshire.

I am looking forward to bringing my family up from Atlanta this summer for vacation... and a bit of house hunting.

mvpel

Nice and tight, well done.

I'd add "else" to "everywhere I went", and it's "the" Liberty Forum, not "a" Liberty Forum.

At first glance, the last sentence seems to dangle a little bit, but I think it's good for an LTE - they'll be hearing more from you.

mappchik

Thanks. I'm making the edits, and will send after a short wait for additional comments.

Waiting for the other papers to join our revolution .... will teach you patience.

Maybe by next year some liberty lover will have a politically oriented newspaper and can cover the event fully .... or we can just have really good websites about these events. :)
