Idea is to attract more NH people who just didn't know there was a statewide community of Liberty-lovers.

D'oh! Top post fixed. Thanks, Russ.

Well... this Forum is like what a Town Hall would have been 150 year ago.
The building wasn't just used 1x/year for voting, ya know!
It was the social hangout. A place to hang out and talk about stuff. A place where the newspaper would get read. A place where all manner of ideas would be bandied about... and, sometimes, Whiskey Rebellions planned.  :icon_pirat:

Are you comfortable in one that you and your wife own and manage?

I like the idea of the town hall, but not the picture. It is not inviting, too imposing and that is what often comes out of one. I also don't like the hanging of the Lincoln doll. Images are very important, they reach the brain first. Violence is anti-liberty. If you have to think twice to agree with it, it probably isn't the best image.

Rosie the Riveter

I think that is a cute idea and good marketing-- but I think of the forum more like a coffee shop or an "old school" front porch -- I do find the hangin' abe slightly disturbing everytime I log in, but not enough to change it  ;)

You can look at it more than one way.  As probably .0001% of the citizenry know the truth about Lincoln, and, worse yet, believe he is the 'best' president,  they observe this and think:  "Must be crazy racist bastards"  or,  "What the Hell?..... I don't know what to think"

On the positive side, given the possibility that someone will observe and conclude that people would not be likely to hang the 'best' president in effigy, in public, if there was not something to it and ensue research (Googles bad abe lincoln, sees some stuff). the, apparent, theater absurdum makes sense.

Russell Kanning

abe is only temporary .... really temporary if you put up a better picture.

I like the "Shorty's front porch" type idea.

Town halls are hurtful   in NH right now.

OK, I put a different open door on the mooted page.

After spending about 30 minutes browsing various images on Google, here are the ones I came up with.
Pick one, or suggest an alternate...

a) the one that's there now:

b) this "hearth & home" scene:

c) iconic graphic

d) a bit imposing, but in the running

I was looking for some folksy Rockwell like image of a town hall when I ran into this one.

I always think of this image whenever I think about training classes and suits for testifying at the statehouse.

This guy didn't have time time to put a suit on as he probably had to rush thru dinner after working overtime to put food on his table for his family which is hard 'cause he's four fucking years behind due to WW II.

I used to look at this as a guy taking part in the process.  Now, I'm thinking he's probably trying to keep the rest of them from taking something of his away.

Russell Kanning

how about a picture of a bunch of guys shootin' the breeze at porcfest or something?

Find a porch with people on it. Male and female. Or people around a potbellied stove.
