And the guy in the Bentley is likely to be some well-connected local high muckety-muck who can drop a name somewhere and get the cop fired. You lose. Thanks for playing! Insert coins to continue.

Window rolled up, I broke out laughing. Is this normal? Just a cop, or should I say, Trooper, in a bad mood, or are the majority like this? In DC a cop passed me once and I saw him typing plates in), then I passed him going to other way by the White House, and he did a U-turn in the middle of the street and rode my bumper by no less than two meters for about ten minutes with his high-beams on.

Tyler never under any circumstances would I pass a moving police car. I assumed everyone knew that.  Only when they have someone stopped on the side of the road do you pass them.

This is not like the double-negative that wasn't.

Why not? I've passed marked police cars before. On the extremely rare occasion they're not driving faster than the speed limit and I'm behind them with a clear lane to pass, I've done so. I never seem to draw ire for things I intentionally do counter to posted signs, only stupid crap no sane person would expect, such as moving to the right of an off-ramp instead of stopping on an interstate, only to be pulled over for "driving on the shoulder". Ridiculous.

I once passed a moving marked state trooper's car going south on I-93 near Manchester. He was going well below the speed limit, and I was going THE speed limit as I passed him.  After I passed him, he then passed me and pulled back in front of me and slowed below the speed limit.  It pissed me off, so I passed him AGAIN.  He turned on his lights and pulled me over.  He was an arrogant jerk and actually asked me how I could be so dumb as to pass a police car. Anyway, I argued with him and he didn't give me a ticket, but that's when I realized that some cops are major bullies and lie.  (I say some cops, because I really do think some are good people that just picked the wrong profession)

Why? I don't believe I should be afraid of my public servants. They only pull you over because they hate it so much that someone wouldn't bow to their feet. It's an ego complex and I'll never bend to it.

Heh, I was going North on I-93 near Manchester. Maybe it was the same jerk.

My guy was old, relatively speaking, for a uniformed trooper.  Probably PO'd he hasn't gotten a desk job.

This thread got me thinking...

Most people after living in an area for a while know the cop hang outs on highways etc.  Wouldn't it be helpful to compile a list of such locations for those moving here and not so familiar with the area.

For instance rt 101, just east of where it breaks off from 93 is a turn around that often has a cop.

I was once driving down I-93S (near exit 6) and i noticed a car driving way ahead of me that was flashing blue lights out the back window...the car was driving very slowly for being on the highway so i quickly got up to him...i had seen him flash his blue lights probably about 5 times from the first time i saw him until i got up to him...when i got up beside him i looked over at him to see what the deal was...then he slammed on his brakes and pulled in behind me and turned on all of his blue lights

i pulled over and he got out of the car and ran up to mine...(unmarked state police cruiser with a plain clothes offic...trooper)

then he yells at me to get out of my car and proceeded to scream at me on the side of the highway...i was young at the time so i kinda didnt know what to do so i just stood there and took it...

let it happen again though... >:(

Don't know if anyone ever comes north, but the Ashland area around I-93 exit 24 is a notorious state trooper speed trap.  Also, between exit 27 & 26 they hid out in the median behind boulders. Also around the West Franklin/Sanbornton section of I-93.

Great idea--it's already been established  but needs to have everyone's input as time goes on. http://speedtrap.org/ is a user-posted site run by the National Motorists Association http://motorists.org/

"Fortunately, you know about the speed traps on your regularly traveled routes, but what about those times you are on unfamiliar streets and highways? If only there was a way you could share your knowledge of speed traps, in exchange for the speed trap knowledge of others."  :)

Sounds like we have a few real head-cases in the New Hampshire State Police.

They're just angry because they wear pink pants.

I like those sites. I know where all the traps are around my area, but I don't know where they are when traveling. Nice idea for sure.

Had incident #4 with police today. Someone gave them a tip I was allegedly hauling an arsenal in my trunk. >.> I don't even own a pocket knife, sheesh. I broke all the rules though. I consented to a search, gave them all the information they wanted, talked too much, etc. I feel terrible now about it, but I don't think I compromised anyone but me. In exchange, they trashed my car which I keep perfectly organized and dumped my new suitcoat in the floor. Upon locating a Gadsden flag (shock! horror! Don't tread on me? Who do I think I am?), I was probed on my involvement in the militias (something I beat around).

I have got to start standing up a bit more to these guys, but I hate the trouble. >.>

Would is have been illegal to have an unloaded rifle in my car? Don't think so.  >:(
