This is what happened in my neck of the woods - I was about 6 blocks away

Wow SpeedPhreak, your lucky to be alive!

I've been on the back of a motorcycle since I was 7 or 8, not anymore though.  My boyfriend that I was nuts over got killed on a bike, he was the passenger, the guy in the front had his head  decapitated when they hit an oil spot and smacked into a tree.
It took me a few years to get back on but it was never the same for me.

Your pretty amazing for all that you still do! :)

SpeedPhreak

Thanks.

I rode on the back of a bike once.  I will never do it again unless I have too... it was way too scary.  You should try riding for youself if you haven't already - you will probably like it better... something about being in control.

Bikes are dangerous... but IMO it is (was?) well worth it.  I used to use it for stress relief, transportation, & for my adrenaline fix. You can't beat the gas mileage, insurance ($400 a year?), rush, & sensations.

I don't know if I will ever ride again because I have my daughter to think about & you can end up dead for a minor mistake... something that in a car would leave you cussing because you have to fix a dent or a scratch (as you well know).

I do need my speed fix... I have an all wheel drive BMW that I have been thinking of turning into a rally/hill climb car.  I was thinking of building a baja bug for the same purpose too.  Then I decide the financial obligation isn't worth it right now... so the occasional snowboard trip is all I get.

I guess colorado has pretty favorable gun laws & the "freedom" to wear a helmet or not along with the mountains.

You could try whitewater kayaking/canoeing.

Just watch out for damn wasp nests in the kayaks before you get in them, it happened to my brother in law.  I also used to have a 77 Chevy Nova (my favorite car) and wasps had nests under the hood.  I had to sell it before moving to Florida and the guy that took it got attacked by the wasps while driving it down the road (I didn't know about the wasps).  Anyways I hate wasps!

My 1st car was a 74 nova  I also had a 74 charger (3 on the tree).  I still love my american muscle but have been into european sports cars recently (especailly late 80's bmw's 3 series - e30s).  No time or money for cars right now though  :'(

I don't like wasps either.  I had 1 crawl into my helmet once while cruising through a small mountain town (put my visor up to get some air).  once I was back to moving I got stung on my head.  Another time I was ran into one w/my neck... actually that may have been a bee.. it was obliterated couldn't tell.

ahhhhhhhhhhh... the good ole days :D

I have never been stung by a bee or a wasp so I don't even know if I'm allergic. :-\

My first car was a 72 Plymouth Duster, $200, I ran that sucker into the ground.  The exhaust fell off the bottom so I coat-hangered it back together, the rear view mirror fell off from me moving it every 2 seconds to look at my hair and make-up, one day the windshield wipers fell off so I would just stick my hand out of the window and move the wipers back and forth, it was so cool!  I had a whoopie cushion I'd put under the passenger seat cover everytime somebody sat there, faarrttt and I had a fake rubber hand that I would have my passengers bend the fingers back to give people the middle finger (yeah I smoked a lot of weed in that car too). I used to get inspection stickers off of a friend of mine and fill them out myself, could never find hot registration stickers though so the cops pulled me over at least twice a day but I'd do the dumb blonde routine and usually didn't get a ticket.
Anyways my Nova was my favorite, that was fun sharing some memories!  I love talking about cars.  I learned how to change my own oil, antifreeze and my Nova had a dent so I just smacked some bondo (I think that's what it's called), on the dent and spray painted the car with primer, it looked like shit when I got done with it but I didn't care I had a blast. Rick kept telling me I should've sanded this and that I was like whatever leave me and my car alone. I ended up spray painting it a dark blue and smacking a black panther thing on the hood.

I heard the at the first sting the body will not react as if it was allergic but rather create the conditions such as a build up of antibodies and so on for a second sting to have the effect of an allergic reaction.

That's a relief kind of I guess for the first sting anyway, thanks! :)

Chicks that dig cars!
How cool is that!

Honestly, I've been all over and I have to say that there are many, many more women on motorcycles here in New Hampshire than I've seen anywhere else, except for the orient...

I hadn't been in the state a month and I saw a whole pack of chicks on sportbikes riding through Concord!

I'm home!
That's for sure!

Hey fellow adrenaline addicts!  ;D  I've had some close calls myself, the first of which was a serious skiing accident which nearly cost me my life.  A loose binding caused me to lose a ski at about 60 mph and fly off a cliff, resulting in a broken spine and dislocated hip.  I used to ride a motorcycle, and got in trouble all the time for various minor infractions.  I used to do wheelies several times a day and often rode fast enough that if I were to let go of the handlebars I would have been blown off the bike.  At the highest speeds I attained (135+ mph), it took all of my strength just to hold on.  My current car is no hot-rod, but it handles really well and I outfitted it with some premium high performance tires which really make a difference.  My motorcycle broke down a couple years ago so I put it in storage in Manchester, and I haven't been able to go pick it up because I no longer have a trailer hitch because someone destroyed it when they rearended my Jeep.  I'm behind on the storage fees, so I'm not sure if it's still there.
