I think that younger libertarians and Free State members in particular aren't giving enough weight to vital history that I've lived through. For heaven's sake when I was a kid, black students couldn't go to state schools in the south or eat in the same restaurants as whites.

Holly crap, really?  Guess why, anyone?  Because they would be arrested and put in jail by the government if they tried.  If they resisted they would be beat and maybe killed by the cops.

In Memphis, the county government did not full integrate parks until the 60s.  For many years, the only park the blacks would not be forced out of at a point of a gun by a cop was Robert Church Park.  It was started in the 1800s by a rich white/black mixed man that disagreed with the government policy.  Church was a man that helped the Confederate cause during the Civil War and was almost captured by the Union during a the Battle of Memphis.  He started a private park and it mostly paid for itself for over 30 years even though it was designed to serve the poorest of the poor.  Yeah, a private park that supported itself because people were willing to pay for it.  Eventually the park was given to the city and the city agreed to let blacks visit it but hardly put any money into it and it mostly fell apart.

It is great when someone from NH thinks they know a lot about history in the south and uses their lack of information to prove their own ideas wrong.  I just took a class called Memphis History from the top Memphis historian in the nation.

The article is full of more crap.  Oh, and I am not sure what Barry Goldwater has to do with free staters.

Yeah like he claims CNHT supports 'wild spending'...which is such a joke. Or that we file numerous lawsuits -- as if we have any money to do that!
He's not playing with a full deck doggie and you know it.

Based on his comments to some of my articles this week its clear he is what I'd call a government apologist.  He's even arguing that suing to raise the speed limits is a bad lawsuit.
