Right now, I'm drinking Rochefort 10, one of the finest beers in the world http://www.ratebeer.com/beer/rochefort-trappistes-10/2360/

It is by far the best thing I've ever put inside my mouth. Any other resident beer snobs with recommendations?

I'd say beer is nasty, don't drink it, but I won't say it.  This is afterall the peppy thread, so in light of the fact that this is a topic on beer I won't say anything.    ;D 8)

I find that most people who say they don't like beer have only ever had one or two different kinds, usually the yucky rice-bombs made at the bigger commercial breweries. It's one of my personal missions in life to spread around delicious beer to those who say they don't like beer. For instance, the one I'm having right now has no funk, no nastiness. It's uniformly smooth in flavor and velvety in texture. It's not bitter, but rounded with delicate prune and molasses flavors. Best of all, it's 11.3% alcohol!  ;D As some beer podcaster (I forget which one) said:

"When I hear people say, 'I don't like beer,' I tell them it's like saying, 'I don't like food.' There are just so many kinds, it's impossible to dislike them all."

See, now that's just the sort of beernography I was looking for by starting this thread!

Blue cheese beer?  Sounds really yummy.

Nice. Is there a law here in NH that regulates the alchohol level in beers?
In TX I recall that the highest beer could go was 6.? %.
Otherwise it was called Malt liquor and was cheap shit.

I loved the beer I tried in Germany. I don't remember the brand, it was called Crystal Weizen. I was also half way to being sloshed at that point, so the memory is fuzzy.  :D

Does anyone know of a good website about beers? I knew of one years ago but I forget what it was called.

I don't think NH has any alcohol percentage restrictions. I couldn't find them anywhere. That said, it would stink if I had to drive around and smuggle big beers into the state. I guess that would be a good time for me to test out my homebrewing skills at some more "advanced" beers. There are a few good beer websites. My favorite is the one I linked in my OP, RateBeer.com. It has a comprehensive list of beer details for basically EVERY commercially available beer in the world. The best part is, it's also user-oriented content, in that people submit their ratings and comments on beer in an effort to determine which ones are best. They also have distribution info linked on the site for each beer, so you can see where you can go to get some in your belly.

BeerAdvocate.com is another good one, but is more of a "beer news" website, based on the Beer Advocate magazine. If you like podcasts and have an interest in homebrewing, The Brewing Network puts out a show called The Sunday Session which is very informative, outstandingly comprehensive for beginners in beer knowledge, and completely and utterly hilarious. The downside is that it's anywhere from 2.5 to 4 hours per show! I've had to let this podcast go by the wayside to make room for more liberty-oriented content in my listening schedule, but it's an awesome show.

I don't think so, but there's a reason why beer isn't sold in the state stores:

http://www.nh.gov/liquor/faq.shtml

"Do you sell beer in your liquor stores?

No. New Hampshire State Liquor and Wine Outlet Stores do not sell beer or alcoholic beverages with an alcohol content of 6% or less by volume. These products are available at most convenience stores or supermarkets in the state."

When it's my choice, and if I'm consuming for enjoyment I opt for Guinness, Bass or Red Stripe; nothing fancy.   :occasion14:

If its any other circumstance, I could care less what it is, just keep it coming.

I recall a discussion some time back, about how you can't buy Sam Adams Utopias in NH, because the alcohol content (above 20%) would require it to be sold in the state stores, but they don't carry it.

Sam Adams Utopias... the alcohol content (above 20%).

Perhaps I should try something new. Mass. isn't too far away and I do need to return to CT at some point in the near future. >:D
