Just a reminder that this coming Sunday, June 28th, will be the first Free State Food Drive held during Social Sunday.

Please bring a can or few with you if you are attending. I am also willing to do pickups, so feel free to PM me with your directions.

See http://freekeene.com/2009/03/26/free-state-food-drive/ for more information.

Neat :)

Didn't the Liberty Ladies do this once?

Kat Kanning

I put it on the calendar for this sunday, assuming that's what Chris meant.

You are right Kat, I meant March .

Thank you.

Kat Kanning

You're just wishing it was summer!  :D

Thank you to everyone who contributed to todays first Free State Food Drive.
We collected over 80 cans of food. That is about twice as much as I was hoping for!

You can see some of the pics I took over at http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2020041&id=1365814692&l=1c6625571f

I would like to set a goal of 100+ cans of food for the next Free State Food Drive to be held on April 26th.
Please help me make this a reality

Fluff and Stuff

I suggest changing the name so that Free State isn't in the name.  Maybe include something about freedom , liberty, or live free or die in the name instead. Even calling it the Free Keene, Free Minds TV, or New Hampshire Free Press Food Drive would be a lot better, IMO.

I like it being connected specifically with freestaters, as it can help change some people's negative opinions of us.

My car wouldn't start yesterday, but I have a box of cans for you.  Next month I guess.

Free State Food Drive was the first name to popped in to my head & I just ran with it. I also have been thinking if "Free State Food Drive" is an appropriate name. I am open to all suggestions on an alternative name to the current one. I am leaning towards "Free Keene Food Drive" right now.

I have no problem at all promoting the Free State Project on the labels that we applied on the cans, but I don't know if it should be used in the name of the event.
I myself am not a freestater and we had a few people that are not even liberty minded contribute to the food drive.

Or I could use this as an excuse to check out Grafton.  ;D

That's a far better name.  Since you cannot recruit people in Keene to move to NH as part of the FSP, why promote the FSP?  People need to eventually move on with their lives.  Free Keene serves several useful purposes that people inside Keene can get behind.  Also, Free Keene isn't really a FSP thing, either.  Some of the people involved are not FSP members.  As time goes on, more and more people involved with Free Keene will not be FSP members.

The NHLA is similar.  Some of the people who started it may be FSP members, but it is not related to the FSP.  In fact, most NHLA members are not FSP members.

I find it funny that natives and prior residents aren't considered Free Staters.  If they're involved in activist activities, then we should put them through the "Gooble gabble, One of us" ritual or something.
I also think that labels like this (and--::::::::FULL DISCLOSURE::::::::--those were my idea) help associate the Project with the sort of neighborliness that will partially effect the necessary "We're here, we're freer, get used to it" campaign.
