My view of refering to humans as barnyard animals

Pigs has been the traditional term for cops and other aggressive government types, among protesters since the 60's. I will not be denied my tradition!
The Barnyard Pigs have been notified and said, "Anything for the cause"
The 'Real' Sheep exclaimed that, "Hey!,we got no choice but to be Sheep!"

I've called them pigs on many occasions, and recently have decided to tone it down.  After all, such a name as pig is not fitting for these guys.  There really isn't an animal as slimy and disgusting.  In fact, I find it an insult to the great animal such as the swine.

They don't deserve to be shown such disrespect.  To share a name with such a band of thugs?  Sure, pigs got a bad rep in Animal Farm. . .but they're smart. . . and, you know,

you don't have to be a genius to be a cop, just a bully.  Of course, not all cops are bad, just mostly bad apples. . . hello. . .hello?

I agree--so let's start calling police apples!

Road apples ;D

That's for the highway patrol.  The mounted cops are horse apples.  The meter maids are crab apples.  The administrators are big apples.  The plainclothesmen are apple scruffs.  The rookies are apple dumplings.  I'm sure y'all can come up with more of your own.
     Damn!  This works better than I'd originally thought . . . !

Bureaucrats aren't human, and to treat them like they are is the affront to the civilized world.

I just wanted to state that if a person does something wrong there is nothing to be gained by referring to that person as a barnyard animal.

I agree with and accelerate F4L's viewpoint.  There is something lost when you dehumanize a person, no matter how repugnant: you've lost your ability to persuade them.  Even if you have the most logical, effective, and beneficial plan for him he won't go along with it because he can tell you don't really care about him.

Thought experiment:  You are kidnapped at gunpoint by people who want some information you may have.  They lock you in a cold room, keep you for days, don't feed you or let you sleep.  When you don't answer their questions satisfactorily they strap you in a dentist chair and force your mouth open.  One torturer says, hey you have an inflamed tooth there, do you want us to remove it?

Even if the guy is a dentist and you do have an inflamed tooth and removing it would be best for you, will you say yes?

That's what it feels like to people who fear our message.  I like to be gentle with inflamed people, so they are more likely to be swayed by our message.

I don't call them pigs, it is unfair to the animal.

That is correct, it's not fair to the animal. Pigs are intelligent and much smarter than dogs.

I like to think that my base self-esteem can be measured by how I treat those who mistreat me.

There you go being reasonable and right... dang it.

I reserve my making fun of people who oppose us, to the ones that deserve being singled out because they have actively done something.

That was why I referred to the prosecutors at your hearing as weasel one and weasel two, because that best illustrated their behavior. When at your trial William asked me if Mike Therrian was "a bad man", I said "No I think he just needs to get another job".

When dealing with the security going in I remained neutral towards them, if they acted nice I was more polite in return, if they behaved like a bully I returned a pointed comment directed toward the aggressor.

Making fun of people that wield a disproportionate amount of power over me is my way of not going postal. ;D I mean compared to hurting me and putting me in a cage laughing at them seems pretty mild.

I have never called them Pigs to their faces.  I just sometimes refer to them as Pigs. Hardly de-humanizing ;D

It creates a dehumanizing aspect in your mind and in the minds of others.
