we will be watching the movie on the big screen Monday the 18th
its gunna be cool

John

Cool. One of my kids, whom I almost never see, says "Let's get together and go see this."

Russell Kanning

it should be fun for millions of us :)

I've just experienced some strangeness.

I posted a reply to this thread, addressing John, saying:

"You do know that Ayn Rand would probably consider you the communists' best friend, right?"

And that post is not there anymore.

Did I screw up and not notice, or was that post deleted?

Pat K

I really wanna like this movie, but so far
the trailers aren't doing it for me.

Lloyd Danforth

From what I've seen, the characterization look good. I wouldn't be expecting an 'exciting' film of AS.

The trailers look good to me. I know that a thousand-page book has to be broken up into several volumes, and supposedly this is number 1 of 3.

If a picture is worth a thousand words, then hopefully 30 pictures (frames) per second will cut "This is John Galt Speaking" down from dozens of doze-off pages, to about 10 seconds.

Or, they could just splice in Gary Cooper's trial speech as Howard Roark, from the film version of The Fountainhead. Same message, but much shorter, and more skillfully delivered.

Russell Kanning

I don't expect perfection .... if they kinda follow the book, then I will enjoy the movie.

The trailers have been snoozers for me.  I'll still rush out to see the movie because it is either an epic event or a car wreck on the side of the road that you can't help but slow down to look at.

Pat K

Well don't rush to fast, we don't want you
involved in the car wreck we can't look away from.

Lauren and I saw 'Atlas Shrugged: Part 1' today in Worcester, MA.  There were about 12 other people in the theater, at the 3pm showing.

Lauren handed out some literature, about the FSP, after the movie that was very well received by the people who saw the movie.  We talked to some of them and it was obvious that the movie had struck an emotional chord.

I thought the movie was well done... it should have been 4 hours longer, to include the great things that were left out.

Glad to see this report. Great idea to hand out literature at these.
Thanks Jim and Lauren.
