Nice.

The home grown Maine expo is this weekend.

Inspite of the considerable power and influence of the powers that be, the oppressed and marginalized are prevailing.

Now is not the time for small steps, half measures or begging for crumbs. "Well we won't attack and incarcerate the Jews potheads we'll just tax the shit out of them!"

I'm still waiting for Nicholas Toumpas, the commissioner of Health and Human Services in NH to provide proof that the NH Controlled Drug Schedule was published in a newspaper prior to July 2011 just like their law on statutory construction RSA 21:32 said they were supposed to.  You don't suppose they'd forget to do that do you?   :blueman:

Oh wait, in July of 2011 they changed the law to say it was okay to publish it on a website....they buried the law change in the Governor's budget bill...probably figured the Elves would never find out...but we can see them when they are sleeping and know if they've been bad or good.    So, does that mean ALL the people that were prosecuted prior to July 2011 were prosecuted for a non-existent crime?  Damn this government stuff can get so confusing.

...oh almost forgot, good on you Tom Sawyer.

I keep coming back to the idea of creating a document to issue the terms of surrender.

Even some of the lefties in the movement are recognizing the call to tax and regulate was probably a mistake. The "Natural Rights Movement " that would work to recognize the inherent right to do with your body what you want to. Would be a broad coalition.

How does one make the evil weed not so evil?  Oh why of course give the government money and all of your marijuana sins are magically washed away.

That's an interesting insight. The Catholic Church started Indulgence because they needed a new source of revenue.
The Government creates new sins and the Government gets more money.

 :glasses1:

One of the Presenters at the conference discussed that the desire to cash in by both the government and the sellers requires maintaining prohibition pricing. In fact in Washington state they are shutting down medical dispensaries in order to drive patients to the more expensive recreational outlets.

Fortunately the underground market is currently undercutting the "legal" market.

Some of the same folks that pushed for the tax and regulate market approach are starting to acknowledge that it was a mistake.

Just like busting moonshiners, people are still going to be raided and incarcerated. "Meet the new boss, same as the old boss."

Russell Kanning

it is crazy when you meet someone who is so excited to have the government tax this new legal substance.

In Maine there is a big war between the dispensaries and the caregivers.

It's unfair that homegrown tomatoes can unfairly compete against the grocery store!

Yes there is.   Turf wars can be get gruesome.

Maine will likely "legalize" in 2016 under the tax and regulate permission based scheme put forth by Maine Representative D. Russell.

She has a plan for pot smokers - after cutting thru all the bullshit here's what it means, "give us money and you can use weed".

I think it was the December 2014 issue of High Times that featured an article by long time legalization guy Jon Gettman where he erroneously stated what a "free market" was in his plea for legalization.

I wrote a rebuttal to it...maybe I can find it somewhere and enthrall the peanut gallery here with it, but if you're not enthralled, I'll understand.   ;D
