What was your hope when you decided to give the church to a board?

I recall that at the time, John hoped to save the church. He wouldn't fill out any tax-free paperwork, but would let the board do as they must.

Whomever-the-hell "novel" is, has an interesting interpretation of the words s/he quotes.

FRIDAY: "There may be a meeting."
"That's not a good time."

SATURDAY: "I'm telling people there might be a meeting."
"Not a good time for me."

SUNDAY 1230: "We're going to have a meeting."
"Not a good time for me."

SUNDAY 1430: "We still want to have a meeting."
"Not a good time for me."

After the meeting: "WE TOLD YOU WE WERE HAVING A MEETING AND YOU REFUSED TO SHOW UP!"

It sounds like only one side refused to listen here.

'I'm too superior. I'll throw it over to the dirty people who will do what they must.'

If that is true, saving the church wasn't the purpose of giving the church to a board.

But, Thanks for responding..... John.

If I was in John's shoes, I would not have handed the church over to a board .... but John does things differently than I do. :)
I agree with you John .... I don't know what the board members were thinking. They should have been able to predict your behavior.
I don't think the situation was hopeless when they formed the new organization and installed a board. I don't think it is hopeless now either.
I forgot that stuff about Brandon Ross. I am with you Friday. I have always liked Seth Hipple. But every time I saw him, I would tell him he needed to quit being a lawyer. As time went on, he would prompt me to just get that conversation out of the way. :)
Since we haven't heard any more bad vibes, I am hoping it is getting bettah. I pronounced that way for John.

John

I'm VERY VERY VERY talked out on this crap.
You all have no idea how much communication their has been on this...
And VERY busy with "normal" stuff also.
I'm booked solid this week...
I'll be back after I've had a restful break.

Peace

When I made a comment on Facebook about how I consider John to be my pastor, and PAC my congregation (which is true, even though I've never been to Grafton), a board member sent me a private message asking me to file an affidavit to that effect.

I have no problem issuing a statement that John Connell is my pastor and spiritual advisor, but I don't know what purposes others may have for asking.

I've asked for clarification. Meanwhile, PAC is my congregation, and John is my pastor.

never been to grafton? .... it isn't far away

So how do you feel about John Connell being removed as a pastor of your congregation?

A good warrant article to try to pass would be one that would allow the selectmen to work with people who lose property because of a tax lien.
I wrote a petition warrant article:

To see if the Town will vote to authorize the selectmen to dispose of a lien or tax deeded property as justice may require.

I haven't been following this thread or the issues behind it to have a clue who is on what side for what reason, but that sounds like an authorization to empower the town rulers to cheat less favored resident/tax payers out of money.   I think that it would be prudent for whomever is a lawyer among you to determine whether there are statutes or case law prohibiting such an authorization.

John said on FBug that he will not be communicating for a week.

The statutes specifically allow it, but I do see an addition that "indefinitely, until rescinded" is also needed or it would only be good for one year.

so the updated petition warrant article would be something like this:
To see if the Town will vote to authorize the selectmen to dispose of a lien or tax deeded property as justice may require, indefinitely, until rescinded.

III. The selectmen may, by a specific article in the town warrant, or the mayor, by ordinance, may be authorized to dispose of a lien or tax deeded property in a manner than otherwise provided in this section, as justice may require.
IV. Such authority to transfer or to sell shall continue in effect for one year from the date of the town meeting or action by the city or town council provided, however, that the authority to transfer tax liens, or to sell real estate acquired in default of redemption, or to vary the manner of such sale or transfer as justice may require, may be granted for an indefinite period, in which case the warrant article or vote granting such authority shall use the words "indefinitely, until rescinded'' or similar language.

...

VI. For purposes of this section, the authority to dispose of the property "as justice may require'' shall include the power of the selectmen or mayor to convey the property to a former owner, or to a third party for benefit of a former owner, upon such reasonable terms as may be agreed to in writing, including the authority of the municipality to retain a mortgage interest in the property, or to reimpose its tax lien, contingent upon an agreed payment schedule, which need not necessarily reflect any prior redemption amount. Any such agreement shall be recorded in the registry of deeds. This paragraph shall not be construed to obligate any municipality to make any such conveyance or agreement.

The statute empowers such sale or disposal of  "a lien or tax deeded property" and makes three further references to "the property".  It might be that since "a" and "the" are definite articles, that such a warrant must be specific to the property that the municipality seeks to convey.
