Hey all, I have a few ideas (if they haven't already been thought of):

First, if you have a MySpace profile, add a "FREE RUSSELL KANNING" section to it.  I did so to mine and I found another who has also done it:
http://www.myspace.com/tommix
http://www.myspace.com/nhdraiocht

Second, I know this has been talked about on Free Talk Live, perhaps we could get it on other shows?  I emailed Marc Stevens and he was very receptive to having someone call into his show about it.  He has a show called "The No State Project" on the Republic Broadcasting Network.  The website is http://www.rbnlive.com and the show runs from 7PM to 9PM Eastern on Saturday night.  The call in # is (800) 313-9443.  If someone who was there to witness at least part of the events there in Keene and Concord, it would be great if you could call in.  If not, I will call in but I only know what I have read on this forum.

Let me know what you think.

I called and tried to find out if he was eating or not.  They wouldn't tell me anything, and wouldn't let me talk to anyone who might know.   :(
They wouldn't even let you talk to him?

Kat Kanning

I haven't spoken to him since the trial, just sent letters.

Dan

I'm a terrible "doer".  I wrote FTL's myspace account last night (thus it went to the more tech savvy of FTL) about creating a FREE RUSSELL KANNING profile.  Make it viral.

Since then, I've considered the enormity of care that must go into it.  We don't want mobbs calling and harrasing the P.D., which is a possible result.

OTOH: the publicity _could_ be gigantic, if it spreads fast.

Roger: Any chance of a 1 minute clip of the two arrests being put up on video.google.com?  That could go front and center along with the pamphlet and Dennis's now anonymous recollection of the trial.

And maybe a tip jar.

Also: Would Russell have any interest in printouts of this forum being mailed to him?  The LEO's have already admitted they are monitoring the board, so what harm would be if they are forced to read through them again?  ( They read incoming mail, I presume )

Just wondering... if Russell was to actually decide to play by the rules, just a hypothetical here, and he has stated he does not want a lawyer which means he wants to represent himself. How does someone prepare their trial if they are in prison? It seems backwards that he is in jail for a crime he has not been found guilty of, yet being in jail is preventing him from preparing his case. I'm just wondering if there is a legal justification that the judge or opposing lawyer can use in this case to say that Russell is not guaranteed the ability to prepare his case? Sure, Russell is admittedly a flight risk but how does that annul his right to a fair trial?

I don't post much, but thought I'd throw in what little support I can at the moment.

I'll try to get something together by next week...

Terribly busy... creating signage, contacting people.
Going to mail the picture of the meeting to Russell.

Thursday, tomorrow going to be outside the IRS at noon with signs. Major intersection, anyone else come and show our support for Russell.

Saturday we are going to the jail 3:30 pm. I'm scheduled to tape the Merrimack meeting before hand.

Russell already had his trial.  They're holding him until sentencing.

The judge eventually convicted Kanning on four of the five charges, and asked the 36-year-old when would be a good day for him to come in and face sentencing.   Kanning replied that he would not come back on his own.  The judge then ordered he be held without bail until sentencing on Sept. 6.

Kanning now sits in Strafford County Jail in Dover, New Hampshire.

Ah! Ok, I guess I missed that critical part. So, what exactly is he charged with?

Kat Kanning

I think:

2 were failure to obey officers
1 failure to obey posted regs
1 disorderly conduct
Those are the ones they found him guilty on.

Not guilty on actually handing out flyers.

Dan

From nh.gov
QuoteCOURT RECORDS
Q:  How do I get a copy of documents in a case file?
A:  Court files are available for copying in the court where the case is filed. Copying fees are charged per page and vary in different levels of court. To get specifics on copying procedures, check with the clerk?s office in the court where the case is filed.

Having this posted somewhere would help eveyone: guests, LTE writers, flame fighters, etc

Kat Kanning

The audio is apparently available (for $$), but it ended halfway through.

2 were failure to obey officers
Did they give him two different orders? Or because there were two security people there? Why two?

Quote from: katdillon on August 02, 2006, 10:17 AM NHFT
1 failure to obey posted regs
What was the regulation that he failed to obey?

Quote from: katdillon on August 02, 2006, 10:17 AM NHFT
1 disorderly conduct
Pushing past the security?

It seems like "disorderly conduct" and "failure to obey officers" is basically the same thing...
