Somalia's a hellhole precisely because people are trying to establish government there.

That's the downside to anarchy: thugs will always try to fill the vacuum.

Well, for now.

Once they get the message that people won't stand for that, things may well turn out differently.

Right now the violence in Somalia is being directed by (1) Islamic radicals and (2) the United Nations. Not necessarily in that order. Each wants to install a government, and the people want neither.

The worst thing under the color of the UN is Ethiopia's attacks and harboring of the gang of criminals the UN has decided is the "government" of Somalia.

Jane, are you a collectivist?  Who is "we"?

I voluntarily live in this country as do other people because I like it better than any other country.
That's as far as my collectivism goes, to keep this a sovereign country.
I have heard many of you defend 'collectivism' when it was voluntary and when it suited your needs.

QuoteJane, no one in this forum has said everything belongs to everyone.  Stop putting words in our mouths.  We believe in private property.

You believe in big government and collectivism when it suits you, as with civil unions, state rights vs parental rights.

Status Report:

Result of Sit-In #1 at Sununu's Office. He got on the phone with us while in the office and offered to meet with us in person. We are chatting with his staff to fit his schedule.

Result of Sit-In #2 at Gregg's Office. Staff ignored us until one of our folks was recognized as the friend of an aide in the office. We are arranging to have a meeting with Gregg. Both sit-ins ended at 4:30 PM to give the office staff at each location time to close up shop.

Tomorrow's rally is going to be big from the rumors I am hearing. Lots of community leaders incluing three Manchester Aldermen and a Nashua Alderman as well as clergypeople from several faiths and denominations have made a commitment to come.

See you there!

What I want to know is, will "Che" himself be there?

Quote from: FTL_Ian on June 15, 2007, 08:00 AM NHFTWhy would anyone want a country?

There are people flocking to this country who do think that everything belongs to everyone, who don't believe in private property, but rather consider their property to be whatever they're strong enough to take by force from others, be it money, virginity, or life.

Indeed they intend to reap the benefits of capitalism while decrying the same:

QuoteWASHINGTON — Immigration-related felony cases are swamping federal courts along the Southwest border, forcing judges to handle hundreds more cases than their peers elsewhere.

Judges in the five, mostly rural judicial districts on the border carry the heaviest felony caseloads in the nation. Each judge in New Mexico, which ranked first, handled an average of 397 felony cases last year, compared with the national average of 84.

Federal judges in those five districts — Southern and Western Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and Southern California — handled one-third of all the felonies prosecuted in the nation's 94 federal judicial districts in 2005, according to federal court statistics.

While Congress has increased the number of border patrol officers, the pace of the law enforcement has eclipsed the resources for the court system.

Judges say they are stretched to the limit with cases involving drug trafficking or illegal immigrants who have also committed serious crimes. Judges say they need help.

And there are yet more who consider to be their property whatever they can persuade others to take by force on their behalf, such as health care, education, and in-state tuition.

I fully support the Somali people's efforts to drive out both the Islamic terrorists and the United Nations terrorists.

So do I! What I was commenting on was, in the absence of a government the UN wants to take over...as I've often said it would and as it often does everywhere there is strife.

You say you are but weren't you supporting HB 184 and Civil Unions? Both of those either create a new bureaucracy or give states the rights that parents should have.

Anyway, I was going to cancel my Bank of America card but they dragged me back in with their efficiency in handling a crisis. This weekend some internet snert got hold of my account number and authorization key and charged up some stuff using a phony website to cover for himself. He even had a phone number for 'customer service' which I had a little bit of fun with calling.

BoA quickly changed my account online and FedExed me a new card with a new expiration date (was about to expire anyway in August) So I was happy with that and probably won't dump them since I've had the same account for 30+ years.

The free market strikes again!  You value efficiency over the illegal immigrant thing.  Which is fine, just something to note, that you're not willing to put your money where your mouth is, as far as making life hard for illegal immigrants in hopes of discouraging them from staying, but you're willing to use the violence of the government to get what you want in this regard . . . .

Well this is only a temporary reprieve since this is the 3rd time they've charged my card with something I told them was a scam...
I wasn't making life hard for illegals, only hoping BoA would rethink having to collect SS from the rest of us, you know for everyone?

And I still do not know where I am willing to use the violence of the government, or any violence and really resent that remark.

Caleb

Well, I don't know where you want to use violence either. Anytime I present the options, you say you don't want to do any of them.

But then you continue to speak against "illegal" immigrants, so I'm guessing you want to do *something*, but I can't figure out yet what it is you want to do.

Maybe you could explain to me how you want to prevent "illegal" immigration, and then I could better explain to you where the violence is.
