"our crowd" does seem to butt heads with law enforcement a lot.

russell:
driving gets to be the issue pretty quickly if you want to get around more than 10 miles a day.

IT IS A REVENUE business for the STATE and others.

if you DO NOT PLAY THE GAME, they can TAKE the vehicles that you are in.
they WILL punish you in increasing amounts of jail time to get your cooperation.

THEY will give you ALL the reasonable extensions for you the ADMINISTRATIVELY fix things up to GET YOUR LICENSE...

**HOWEVER, UNPAID california CHILD support MAY SUSPEND your california license or former license WHICH new hampshire will HONOR suspension under INTERSTATE compact between NH and CALIF.

trust me i know of what i speak...

continuing DRIVING on a SUSPENDED license WILL ALWAYS get you more and more and stiffer penalties...

I guess we will see if you are right.

That's why I was going to suggest that people who decide to do this try to obtain a barely drivable junker and just let em keep it if they confiscate it. If you get tickets, of course the idea is to do the jail time and be a burden rather than an income stream, but I don't have to tell people here about that.  >:D

Maybe these same clunkers should be filled with things that cost money to dispose of.  We have to pay to be rid of junk tires and electronic equipment.  Maybe "hazardous" materials could be on the list, like paints and thinners, pesticides, etc.  Old CFs laden with mercury perhaps. The point is to create negative value in the clunker they seize.

There is no negative value in an agency with taxing authority. If there were, a lot less people would be jailed.

I think the idea is to create an expense for the tow truck/confiscation guys. The governments that they will tow for, will probably take the debris, but, probably won't cover the costs of disposing of a vehicle that is a toxic waste dump.  Leave little notes in the car so they know what they have.

Of course, that gallon-jug of mercury came in handy last snow storm - it gave me some good traction. You ever tried to lift that much mercury!? >:D

It gets passed on.
All fines and duties levied are required to be paid upon renewal of your driving privilege... which is why Menno currently is unlicensed. Being unlicensed is why his vehicle is currently unregistered... and being unregistered is why it was towed/impounded.
