I want to upgrade the skittle mobile to a somewhat used medium-sized pickup truck. I'm going to be scouring craigslist for furniture deals and such and I need to be able to go grab stuph on a moment's notice.

Now is a good time to look at car dealerships. They are hurting for customers.
You might get a good deal on a used truck.

It'll be on the market the instant I have an alternate ride. It should fetch a fair price as it's only got 45,000 miles on it and is still in excellent shape with new tires. It's only been through one NH winter and I hardly drove it at all. I had no work commute since I'm a slacker.

with a little work, you could use our van to pick up stuph

I may try to sell it in the South. I may drive home for Christmas in it and get my family to sell it. I managed fine this last winter, but it sits low to the ground and isn't really a good Northern car IMO because occasionally you're driving over slushy piles of salty snow or a chunk of ice in a driveway or what not.

I appreciate the offer of a vehicle, but I suspect I'll have so many uses for a pick-up as a property manager. Sometimes the really good deals on Craigslist require you to be able to up and go right away and there's no time to arrange a ride. I know because I was responsible for causing some of those good deals when I was clearing out my condo in L.A. in a hurry. Also, I'm in charge of over-seeing the renovations of this property and even though some of the people working on it will have large vehicles, it will be nice if I can just run to the store occasionally myself and get materials or bags of pellets for a new pellet stove or whatever.

Besides, a pick-up truck will make me seem butch.  ;D ;)

Not if you go with a 'Pink Gunrack' in the rear window ;D

Ew, gross! The gun rack won't be pink but some of the guns might.  ;D ;)

I would like to recommend you not get an American Auto Workers Labor Union vehicle unless you want major repairs in your near future. I had a Toyota T100 (i think 96 was the last year made), it's the predecessor to the T. Tundra...it was an awesome truck, 196 k and no major repairs but that is older...maybe not enough FLASH (!) for such a powerful and influential member of "the media!" :icon_motor:

At the compound in Grafton there is a S-10 with 4WD that is quite a workhorse.

In my driveway there is a Jeep Cherokee for sale for $600.  Note on windshield says "Runs Good."  My understanding is that the tranny's shot.  But for a mechanic with access to cheap rebuilt transmissions, it may be a worthwhile "investment."
