This guy has some stuff wrong about the paid CEO thing. The FSP did want to pay the president (Amanda), but it never happend, as they never obtained the money.

OK a 501(c)4 must report earnings, but only if there are enough to report...

I don't see the benefit of paying someone like Amanda who has a full time job/is going to school as well. If you are going to pay someone to work in a basically 'volunteer' operation, then it had better be someone who can devote most of their time to the recruitment effort.
Seems that a PR person would be better.

I agree 100%

Ok this answers my question about money in the FSP org. But if this guy is opposed to voting, then how does he expect to change things in NH? The fact that we are so close to our government here is just the very reason voting *IS* so important because it DOES count.
How can one come here and not vote and expect to make a difference in changing things?

Many of the people who post here don't vote Jane.  I don't know why.

Look...i always think this but never say it...but I hope those of you on each side will hear it and do it.

Gandhi always tried to fight evil systems without disliking the people behind them.  He was not against individuals.

Same with us...we need to fight for and against systems but we need to not let ourselves dislike each other.

I really like Kate and Adam even tho I am on the opposite side of this debate with them sometimes; Amanda is a blast to be around and argue with, I like Don Gorman who I never agree with on method and heck I can even tolerate the Seth Lord himself!   As long as we don't let it get too personal, we will benefit from fighting!   Where we lose is where we get angry with each other.  Kat you are just too quick to get angry at folks who don't 100% see it your way. Usually you are right in the FSP context, but you're letting it get too personal.  the same could be said for many of us.  Just have fun !

Amanda quit her full time job so she could attend Harvard.

Does anyone know if Elaine(Amanda's daughter) is living with Amanda?

put links or pics on the main FSP page that advertise the most interesting things free staters have been doing, particularly the arrests.

Does the board get paid?
no
So in other words this guy bear is wrong.
Does he say the board is paid?
He is wrong about the FSP having a "CEO".

So long as it might look as if the FSP could reach 20,000, the board could continue to draw checks.
Perpetual money, and they need not even claim to be "close" to achieving any goals.

In fact, that "goal" was most certainly a deadline until they began screwing with it in a quest for perpetual employment. (Why not just run for Congress and pass incumbent protection acts, board members?) That original deadline served multiple purposes: It gave the FSP a measurable benchmark for recruiting. It set a timetable so people could plan their lives. It encouraged compliance by people who might want to weasel out later. And if the FSP failed, it let the organization die quietly, so we could try something else.

Bea
According the post that you made he said it.

The board and officers can draw checks to cover expenses.

It's a shame because I thought the FSP chose NH due to the accessibility of government: running for office, connecting with legislators who are your 'neighbors' and mine, and of course just the physical proximity and lack of red tape to get into the statehouse itself.

I don't see why we can't tolerate all methods of change, and that includes the normal avenues that Gorman uses, and the abnormal methods which basically raise awareness.

For example, did you know that right now our excellent Rep Barbara Hagan has several bills which will allow NH to drop many taxes for individuals and businesses? Instead of wasting time yapping our mouths off here, we should be contacting the other Reps she needs to support her in this effort. I monitor this board because I know there are many dedicated souls here who would jump at the chance to help.

One less tax might translate to more people for NH who can sustain the goal of reduction of government, which is the DIRECTION in which we want to be headed, n'est ce pas???

If you also want to give free manicures in your spare time, that's fine too. ?:D
