I wonder what Scissorfight thinks about the FSP. Might be worth getting their take on things. Maybe they would be interested in working with us in some way.

I don't call that music...do you? It's just a whole lot of noise..not something that makes you feel good....

You could all go see them in Newmarket at the Stone Church (where I once played) on March 25th

At this point it's all I've got. There aren't any other mp3s i can get with pro-freedom nh bands. There might be live stuff but that does  me no good.

Most of their other stuff is rock'n'roll with decipherable rythms, although all of their music is "heavy" in some sense of the word. I have most of their albums on my pc, I can send you some stuff if you'd like.

I just ordered "New Hampshire" and "Mantrapping for Sport and Profit" from Amazon.com. But I'd love to listen to more stuff now before I get those CDs.

It sounds pretty good to me.  It is not cutting edge or anything.  I mean, it sounds like older hardcore/metal.  Maybe it was written for people in there late 20s to early 40s.

I've been uploading Scissorfight onto YSI for like 4 hours, I give up, that site is too damn slow. Sorry :(

I dropped "Outmo-fo the man" into my "rockin" playlist and had it set to shuffle. Right when I opened this thread, Scissorfight came over the speakers.  ;D

... followed by DC Talk's "Jesus Freak" (one of the extended single versions). It's an eclectic mix.  ^-^

I found them on Rapsody, added to my playlist there pretty good .

NOW we're talking music!  Although not directly familiar with this band's music, I've read reviews of their shows and albums here:

http://www.stonerrock.com/forums2/search-results.asp?ForumName=ap809241559%2C1&SearchSubjects=True&SearchPosts=True&SearchTerm=scissorfight

http://www.stonerrock.com/forums2/search-results.asp?ForumName=ap686574459%2C1&SearchSubjects=True&SearchPosts=True&SearchTerm=scissorfight

And if you like this style of music, there is a band in the MD suburbs of DC that also has similar lyrical themes, but with a lot more depth than what has been posted / quoted here.  This band is called The Hidden Hand, and their sound can be described roughly as a cross between Black Sabbath and Motorhead (try to imagine Tony Iommi and Lemmy on the same stage).  The website is www.thehiddenhand.com and IMO, this is one of if not the best underground bands around today.  Note that they have a connection with Scissorfight, mentioned in one of the above links.

These bands are part of a scene which is generally called "stoner rock" these days.  For those of you who are old enough, remember what they used to call "heavy metal" before empty-v came out?  That's right, the REAL STUFF: screaming Gibsons, cranked-up Marshalls, and single-kick drummers.  This is where it all went to, residing happily in the underground for 25 years, perhaps here and there picking up a touch of punk or hardcore along the way.  For those of you downloading all of those lo-fi mp3's, please keep in mind that these kind of bands do not have the millions of dollars like the Rolling Stones or U2....it's extremely difficult for bands to make a living playing this type of music in the face of the current popular trends, so if you like what you hear, the bands will surely appreciate it if you actually spend some money on their records or go to their shows.

For me, the biggest sacrifice in moving to NH is leaving the music scene of the mid-Atlantic area, considered to be the biggest hotbed in the country for underground "stoner" / "doom" metal.  Hopefully the interest in this type of music is increasing in NH.  One of my biggest worries is that of finding other old-school metal musicians to work with (I play bass), and that Boston will probably be the closest or perhaps the only place where these type of shows happen on a regular basis.  I would be EXTREMELY interested in hearing more about the NH scene for this type of music, if anyone here happens to go to the 3/25 show, or if anyone already in this scene in NH happens to contribute to this thread....

Cool thanks for sharing the insight, I'm still attached to the 'old testiment' of this genre... "War Pigs" still rings true today.
In my day the term "head" best descibed the intellectual side of the scene. :)
