Motivated them to do what?

To do what they think is right, no matter the threats the government make . . .

It seems that you're afraid that your attempts to slowly turn the tide of oppression, so that people can live free, will be derailed by people actually ACTING like they already live free.

You say it better than I.  Thank you.

It's suicide to take actions like Russell's anywhere except in NH.

What exactly are his actions accomplishing in NH?

Other then attracting more extremists and turning off moderates what exactly has Russell acomplished?

Even if he inspired 100 other bugs to toss themselves into the windsheild of the SUV, do you really think that those 100 bugs have a chance of stopping it?

If nothing else, the moderate libertarians won't see so "extream" since this is the extream.

If anyone can meet me there that would be wonderful.  It'd be great to have protesters there before they get Russell there.
They were getting lost in Keene .... I bet Kat almost beat us there. The feds hated had having to come to Keene. Their cell phones don't work here. :)

I suspect they did not really "raid" thier home. Rather they served the warrant for his arrest that was issued on Friday when he didn't show for his court appearance. I'll bet throwing him down is standard or at least standard for anyone who smiles and says, "I'd rather not go with you."

Unless the TV cameras are openly filming.

Then they're much more likely to be nice to you. ;)

Roger talked to the "punch your lights out" guard at the fed building...Roger asked him if he was going to punch him today, so he said "I might".  Nice guy.

Amen, brother.
I am coming more and more to understand how important it will be, to firmly secure our right to record these interactions.

To do what they think is right, no matter the threats the government make.

And if what they think is right makes no difference in the grand scheme of things?

It seems that you're afraid that your attempts to slowly turn the tide of oppression, so that people can live free, will be derailed by people actually ACTING like they already live free.

Braddog, I?ve pointed out before that I?ve already accomplished FAR more by working WITH the system.

Merrimack had 1.4 MILLION cut from it?s budget in a single afternoon.

A savings account of 2.4 MILLION forced from people?s pockets via taxes for a library the people voted down multiple times yet were forced to continue funding because the town automatically funded the account through it?s budget was closed and given back to the people of Merrimack.

These are real changes that people can put their fingers on and see.

Real differences were made in the here and now.  Goals were actually accomplished.  And the seeds were planted to push harder? Merrimack started the turn in the right direction so now we?re looking to start fighting the state by getting good people elected who will removed the tolls, continue to fight to lower taxes, push for REAL school choice and open the market to competition that will improve our educational system.

These are well defined goals and I with a handful of others have actual working plans for trying to make them real.

Can you define your goals?  Can you tell me how and when you expect them to become real?

Tom Sawyer

Why are folks bickering over tactics?

If your working in the system is making progress I say great. :)

The tension seems to be over people thinking that everyone's enthusiasm is a resource that someone else has a right to own.

I got involved because Russell went to the airport, Lauren refused to speak, Mike Fisher challenged a ridiculous law directly...

If you look at the name of the forum you are participating in you might have a clue where alot of people here sympathies are. Many people here question the legitimacy of the system. Piss on the constitution and I am no longer obliged to play along.

I think leading is best done from the front, not trying to push from the rear. Take the lead and I bet you will find the folks that are willing to follow your lead.

lildog

I'm not trying to bicker as much as give constructive criticism as I see a tremendous amount of energy and effort being put into protests which I don?t see giving the appropriate bang for the buck.

Cool.

One measurable effect is participation in the forum. Another is people coming together to protect each other. Hell my family traveled 700 miles and got very little sleep to come to the aid of our friends.

Unless you are involved in the ups and downs and see the effect that it has on people you can't begin to understand "Tilting at Windmills".

The building of trust and commitment is of the highest priority. These little steps seem small and of not much use, until you realize that folks that were alone in their struggle have found a place where they can help each other.

Each time more people get off the fence...

Kat Kanning

Why do you need to worry about it lildog? It's not your energy. People put their efforts where they think they'll help.

Kat, aren?t we all fighting for the same end result here, more freedom and less government intrusions into our lives?

As for why I feel the need to worry about it (although I wouldn?t consider myself worried), let me explain it this way?

If you were walking down the street and saw someone pushing like heck to move a heavy object up a hill and then right next to them saw a dolly truck that would allow them to move that object a lot easier would you just sit back and let that person push away?

Would it be right to sit back and let that person push away putting their effort in to what they think is helping?  Or would it make more sense to point out the hand truck to them to help them do more work with less effort?

I?m suggesting there may be better ways.  That?s it.  If you?d rather I didn?t then so be it? have fun pushing up the hill.

Kat Kanning

No, you're welcome to say what you want.  I just wondered why it seemed to bother you.
