And lots of crazy one way streets, and cars double parked, and insane prices if you pay for parking.
Boston is overtly hostile to motor vehicles.

In a police state, no person is permitted to drive five minutes with a broken headlight on the coldest evening of the year. >:(
I was pulled over for that on Sat., and got a written warning, but I had my papers. It was just a loose connection....I had just passed inspection the day before. The cop even said that is was probably a loose wire from the bumpy roads.

I'm sorry to hear you got hassled too, md.

There is no law requiring you to have car insurance in NH.
But there is a law that requires you to show "Proof of financial responsibility".

I was reading the paper last week in Nashua(police blotter), and saw someone got busted for driving without proof of financial responsibility.

That RSA defines "Proof of financial responsibility" but doesn't say it must be furnished for every vehicle. It is required after a person causes an accident involving injury or death, or if damage to property is in excess of $1,000:

Proof of financial responsibility is also required after a person is convicted of certain violations: http://www.gencourt.state.nh.us/rsa/html/XXI/264/264-2.htm

Boston is the worst place for driving I have ever been.

No place else is even close.

I thought this might fit the situation.

Drowsy spells? I can drive for 24 hours straight, across the wide plains and nothingness of places like Nebraska and Kansas! :)

I did Texarkana to Lancaster for P'fest. Straight through for 40 hours, with a couple of roadside naps.

We took three days coming home, stopping for two overnights. The drive wasn't any easier.

Most of Manhattan is laid out in some kind of grid.  None of Boston is. Offer transportation to the nearest T stop and avoid driving in the city.  Even from as far away as Keene, you can get on transit to downtown Boston in a little over an hour.

Nasty.  I haven't been planning to go to Boston, but it looks like I'll be avoiding it now.  :)

Okay... so, how does Boston compare to northern New Jersey?  ;)

How kind, honorable and decent of them to allow us pitiful peasants the right to travel.  ::)

Are you offering free plates? I could use 1 or 2.
Yes, free. I can give you two. They still need a little square orange sticker  ;).  I have some stuff I have to get to Ian, so maybe whenever I do that I will get them to Keene.
Cool. Caleb might get embassy of heaven ones, but I could see driving with "linux" ones. Hopefully no one in the open source community will think I am "ruining it for the rest of us". :)

Russ, I totally, TOTALLY want a pic of the LINUX plate on the back of your vehicle.
Well that pushed me over the edge. Now I have to put it on the van. I have been a linux nut since like 1994.

Boston is OK.  Lots of history.  Great Museums, parks, etc.  Just leave your car home.  The FSP has been doing recruiting during the Annual Masscann  Hempfest on The Commons.  It is an incredible day.  Up to 50,000 have attended. We had cookies last year. We need some young people to join us.

You might rate the worlds record for 'ruining it for'  the largest number of organizations ;D

John

Russell, some of us are trying to enjoy the fake idea that we live in a Free country.

Please, STOP "RUINING" IT for the rest of us.  It hurts to think about the Fascist reality . . . it really, really hurts to think.

Why won't you just pretend that everything is OK?    >:D

John

Come on now, just a few pieces of paper . . . then we can all go back to sleep.

Isn't it just for our own good?  Our government couldn't possibly be like all the others.
