Friday

Nobody from this forum wants to see Stanhope?  In your favorite bar (and conflicting with neither Taproom Tuesday nor Free State Friday)??  For a below-market price???  Start buying tickets, people! BIP BIP BIP!  [/Normal mode]

If anyone would like to attend but can't/won't make an Internet payment, or prefers to deal in an alternative currency, let me know and I will work with you.

Tom Sawyer

Thanks for the reminder. With everything else it had slipped my mind. I need to check if we can get someone to protect the president that day.

Oh yeah! I have to find out if I can get that Friday off. I really want to go to this though.

I will be there.  I still need to buy my ticket, but I have seen Doug once before and he is hilarious.

Fluff and Stuff

Doug is wonderful.  I just saw him on the 8th.  For $15 I got 3 acts plus him.  During this show, he asked us who we were gonna vote for and I started a Ron Paul chant.  When he asked us again, my bro gave him a large "Who the Hell is Ron Paul" button.  The show lasted for hours and I talked to him for a couple min. afterwords.  We talked about Ron Paul and I thanked him for doing the LPNH fundraiser.

Even though my ticket was only $15, I would have paid $40 for it.  So much entertainment.  Of course, my food and drinks were over $40 (I had 11 drinks plus food)...

Keith, you lush...  :drunken_smilie:

Yes, this is an unusual opportunity to see a nationally known standup comic and not have to drive to Mass.  He just had a special on Showtime last month.

And note the new, friendlier time: 9:00PM!!!  I'll be there, and *I* have to go to work the next day.  So don't give me that weak-assed excuse!  Have some laughs for liberty!   :occasion14:

Doug is absolutely hilarious. You should all go check him out. Hell, I might even drive out to join you.

...two DVDs including the latest, "Deadbeat Hero" in 2004.

Latest DVD is "No Refunds", released in 2007.

Since he abandoned his run for the LP nomination, maybe he'll endorse Ron Paul.  8)

I wasn't too familiar with Stanhope other than knowing he was a LP candidate. When I read he was a comedian, I went and looked him up on YouTube. The first video that came up was of him talking rather obnoxiously about getting his wife an abortion. I was rather put off by it, and I'm not particularly thrilled at the thought of this guy being seen as a public face of libertarianism in general, much less being associated with Ron Paul.

The dude is quite possibly the most foul-mouthed individual ever. Be warned.

I don't know about "below market price". I paid $10 to see him last week.

Yes I must admit defeat, Doug is even more foul mothed than myself.

In defense of his foul-mouthedness, I will say that I almost always find it somehow appropriate. Like, I wouldn't mind repeating it in mixed company, since he typically makes a really important point.

He's definitely not for everyone, though. Don't bring your Baptist grandmother.

I don't know, I think he tries to fit his listeners.  In Memphis he was not any worse then the 3 folks before him.  I mean, shit, the group that went before him was a band and one of their songs was "Dick Sucker."  I think he would be more foul-mouthed in a place like NYC or Boston than a place like Memphis or Nashville (highly religious areas).  I am not sure what he considers the LPNH crowd to be so I don't know how tame he will be...

Anyway, you should go to NH and see Doug and then tell him that he is so good you went all the way to NH to see him again.

Do you refer to The Mattoid? Those guys were hysterical. "Eat your eats, drink your drinks, it's party time."

You're still bigger, Pat.  :)

You should show up and have a drinking contest with him.  We can charge extra for that.  :D

No No I know when I am outclassed.

Remember never get into a ground war in Asia.
Never enter a drinking contest with Doug Stanhope or Dave Mincin!
