Ian is one of my libertarian/anarchist heroes, and the reason I want to move to Keene when I get to New Hampshire (I'm not a stalker, I swear :D). He and Gard (eh, Mark too) are the most persuasive and entertaining advocates for liberty around, and their prominence in local media, as well as FTL's growing nationally syndicated presence, has done more to advance the cause of liberty than any campaign by any national LP candidate or advocacy group. FTL is the foremost recruiter for the FSP that I know of, and there are many testimonials to the fact, and that his show has brought around a lot of conservatives and minarchists and Randroids to full-fledged freemarketeer status, available on his website or by just listening to the show. Hell, even his G.O.P. conservative co-host, Mark (formerly Manwich) has finally come around, and it's clear his heart just isn't really in the sort of devil's advocate, statist posturing he does for the benefit of the show's uninitiated listeners.

Now, I know that Ian can take care of himself around here, but it pisses me off that a bag of douche such as Kola would call him a "bootlicker" after all he's done for me and for liberty and the FSP.

He didn't mod himself up. I modded a bunch of people up to 1,024 during the open karma fest a few weeks ago, including Kola. Most that I've seen are still within ±15 points or so of 1,024. It's telling that Kola is the only person not.

Yes, after asking over and over 'what name should I put in' and several emails back and forth, only to be bitched out about what name I put in AFTER the thing went to the printer, ya.  It was too much of a pain in the ass.  Sorry I offered to do a story.

The problem is the email you sent me, was "Maybe I should just refer to you as Rich
Zimmerman or something like that."  I replied, "hehe, or maybe the newly arrived freestater know as ZIM."

I thought that was pretty straight forward, thats why I was upset, after setting you straight on the correct name, that you posted it with the wrong name.

Russel: I dont think CONTROL FREAK is justified, I just want people to call me by my name, mistakes are understandable, but when I make it clear that my name is ZIM and you continue to refer to me as something completely different, then I am going to have an issue with it.

OK, I'm immature.  So what?  Someday I'll learn to enjoy being bitched out in emails about info I'd been struggling for days to get.

I'm running the only freedom oriented newspaper in NH.  What have you accomplished lately, mr. anonymous troll person?

LOL, you are seriously over reacting, I didnt bitch you out in email, after you posted the article litterally the day after I sent you the email, telling you my name was ZIM.  I simply followed up with the question, "Hey, I was just starting to read your artical in the Free Press, why are you refering to me as Zimmerman? "

If that is bitching, then I am one rude asshole.

Wow, you couldn't even give him the choice of having his name in their incorrectly or not printing it.

Now because of this stunt, I will go one step further than not reading your paper, but actively give this as an example to others as to why they shouldn't waste their time with it either.
You don't know the whole story. A guy posts a story on this forum and all we know is his screen name. Kat tries to get more info ... repeatedly. Someone tells us his name is Zimmerman. We go with that one. He then tells us he wants to go by some screen name. In the paper, we can run a correction. Online Kat just pulled the article. If you think it is news, you can report it on your website ... you can get the kids name he wants to be called ... then you can field inquires. This is all Kat and I know ... since the guy is not eager to help us report on the story, we will have to wait for him to tell it in his own words and submit it to us. That is how we work our paper. You can run yours differently.
Whenever another paper gets my name wrong, we just find it amusing.
I hope you tell your friends to not read our paper, they probably wouldn't like it anyhow. :)

No you dont know the whole story, I replied to her in email at the time I told her that it was ok if she reported on it and gave her my name, ZIM along with my real name in case I was kidnapped by the blue light gang, then it was posted incorrectly.  I DID NOT BITCH, I simply emailed asking why she went with the other name.

VampireZIM

Here is the full dialog, this is gone way out of hand.

I sent email to Kat:

"You can print this incident in your paper if you like.  I am not sure I want my real name used, I like to stay realatively anonymous, but for your information, in case its needed in the future to find me should I be kidnapped by the blue light gang, its, (name cut for this post).

Thanks,
ZIM "

See, signed ZIM

She Replied:

"Cool  :)   Maybe I should just refer to you as Rich
Zimmerman or something like that.

Thanks!
Kat "

I replied:

"hehe, or maybe the newly arrived freestater know as ZIM."

She replied:

"That's what I wound up doing  :)   It should have gone
on the front page, but it I didn't feel like moving
everything for a second time today.

Keep us up to date on what we can do to help you.

Kat "

I replied:

"Thank you for your support!  :) "

Article was posted, naming me Zimmerman.

I replied:

"Hey, I was just starting to read your artical in the Free Press, why are you refering to me as Zimmerman?

I just started reading it, but so far that is the only problem. "

I did not receive any reply and after taking a break from the forums for a bit, I come back to this crap about me being a control freak and bitching at people in email.

Im sorry, I can be a little bitchy at times, but you decide, was I being overly bitchy here?

it sounds to me that you had no problems with her using Rich Zimmerman. When she suggested using the name your reply was a laugh and then you followed it with the suggestion of ZIM. Its my take that you were ok with Rich Zimmerman since you didnt say something like, "No Kat, why not use just ZIM." You just laughed about it as if it was funny and acceptable.

note: for the record, I am not saying this to suck up to Kat, I'm just voicing my opinion and would have said it the same way no matter who was involved..

That is how it sounded to me too. Not clear enough with wanting to use the name ZIM. However, once being asked to change it, I do think Kat overreacted a bit. The whole newspaper I'm sure is quite a bit of work and stress for her, so that's probably part of it. No reason we have to put blame on anyone, just a miscommunication with relatively minor consequences.
