I believe Brian Sullivan (a FTL supporter) will answer.

If that's the case, I won't call at 3 a.m.  ;)

I have to agree with Fiday about Jason's moving to Buffalo, and Amanda going to law school. Here you have the founder and President of the FSP who are giving a bad impression to prospective participants. If the desire for Freedom is the motivating factor for joining the FSP, then why are they not here in NH?

Jason works very hard for the FSP.  He is not in NH because he could not find a job as a college teacher in NH but did have offers from MN and NY schools. Before the Porcfest, Jason was at a conference for his job.  The day after he made it back to NY, he helped with the Warped Tour there (even though he is clearly a very shy person and not comfortable around people that he is not close with or that are not his students).  Then, the next day he went to Porcfest with his wife.  He is trying his best to do everything he can for the FSP, but he has lots of demands on his life.  Heck, I disagree with him on many things, but I do know he is doing all he can to help the FSP.

I look at Jason the same way I look at Steve Wozniak: the loveable geek unwillingly thrust into the limelight when his creation took on a life of its own.

I don't doubt Jason's desire for a free state. I just think this little creative project he proposed in his dissertation didn't sit quietly in the university archives, where most dissertations are interred.

Forget reform.  It's time for a new FSP.

But unlike last time, this organization's mission statement will NOT exclude nonviolent noncooperators, anarchocapitalists, free towners, and volunteerists.   :)

If you call the 800 number, you get a message machine, then someone calls you back.

Michael Fisher

The new organization should not be separate from its members or self-defensive of its organizational image. ?The NH Underground is a perfect example of how to do this. ?The organization IS the membership. ?If a member does something we don't like, then a few of us can tell the press we didn't like it without disavowing them from the movement. ?If a member is known for fraud, theft, or violence, then they've violated the basic premise of liberty and responsibility and can be removed from the membership list. ?Otherwise, no one is to be removed from the membership.

Anyone can be a member, even those already in the state, even outlaws.

The membership list is absolutely confidential, including the mailing list. ?Anyone caught pulling information from the list without authorization will have their contact information sent out to the entire membership as a new member of the "hall of shame". ?;)

We need to figure out how to form our mission statement in order to reach these target markets, which I believe the FSP has failed to do:
-Victimless "criminal" ex-cons, current prisoners of victimless crime laws, and other victimless outlaws.
-Liberty-oriented writers, authors, singers, actors, bands, etc.
-Anarchocapitalists
-Volunteerists
-Nonviolent noncooperators, civil disobedience activists, and libertarian civil rights activists.
-Austrian economists
-Gun owners
-Free towners (where else is a free town more likely to work than in NH?)
-Well-known libertarians from other countries. ?Work VERY hard to import well-known libertarians.
-PLEASE add to this list.

No deadlines. ?The only rules are understood: ?no aggression (violent self-defense is acceptable), no theft, and no fraud after becoming a member, or you're not a member anymore.

Michael Fisher

-Libertarian entrepreneurs!? ?:D  Hello people... look at all of NH's economic advantages!  Libertarian entrepreneurs will be flocking here when these advantages are communicated to them.   :)

AlanM

Like your thinking, Mike.  ;)

Had the FSP excluded LP types there would be about 100 (some wealthy, sucessful, entrepenuer types) fewer Porcs moved into NH.

Feel free to form a different organization that recruits people to move to NH.  That would be great.  Feel free to encourage all of those people to move to NH.  I support you.

Russell Kanning

I don't think we need to make a whole new mission statement. We (the fsp) just need to do it. :)

Dreepa

Damn I like the bus idea... you could get all sorts of publicity.
Stop at each capital.... talk to local LP members....

All aboard..

Russell Kanning

I don't see why the fsp cannot work like the Open Source movement does. That is what we patterned the underground after. Why not total volunteerism?

Kat Kanning

Money should only be given directly to people involved in projects.  Like the FTL amp thing....  You like PorcFest, then send money to Kate for it.
