Having seen the other thread it looks like all is well.

From John on the other thread:

QuoteThis aint the full story.

By the time (8:33) I talked to "Booking" (at the jail) about court time, they had already left the jail.  I got on the road, but they beat me to the Derry District Court by a few minutes.   (No picture of arival.)  (No cameras inside . . .)

Arresting Deputy arives in court room . . . Russell was brought into the court room at 9:38  . . . bright orange Rockingham County prisoner jump suit, handcuff belt, and some sort of cord/coil thing on his feet . . . But apairs to be in good spirits!  (When the hell isn't Russell in good spiits?
Charges read at about 10:05 . . . Class B mis. . . .
Recess . . .

During recess, Russell and arresting Deputy of the Rockinghan County Sheriff's Dept. discuss what Russell will be signing, etc.  They apear to be quite freindy toward one another . . . smiles/nods/I am sure I even saw them joke a bit/etc. . . . 10:11 Russell is signing some things . . . more reading and talking . . . more signing at 10:16 . . . Deputy leaves court room at 10:19 . . .

Stiil on recess, I try to talk to Russell . . . other deputy tells Russell he is not allowed to talk with people in the court room.  So I ask the deputy  - loudly enough for Russell to hear - "May I talk loud enough for him to hear me?  I just want to let him know that his wife is on the way."  Deputy says, "You just did that."

. . . more to follow . . .

Russell's free!!!  :) :) :)  His spirits are very high, as should be expected after such an action!

I donated $50 to help cover his $200 sentence and my understanding is that he'll be paying it rather than refusing.  I hope he gets enough donations to cover it!  Hint, hint.

For some reason, they stuck him in a maximum security cell instead of a temporary holding cell.   ???

We had some McFlurries at McDonalds after he was released.  :)  Our conversations were very interesting.

Russell has now experienced the true nature of injustice and the true character of our police state.  I can't wait for him to tell you the story.

On another topic, this whole medical marijuana thing is in the spotlight and a lot of people I know are upset about it.

If someone were to organize a civil disobedience event for someone with a serious health problem, preferably in a wheelchair, to smoke marijuana on the steps of the state capital, that person would be the hero of the entire country.

More media stuff to report:  Russell was mentioned in connection with the arraignment  in half-hourly news segments on WKBK monday morning

Hillary Cogen from WKXL in Concord also called him this morning to try and interview him.

Kat Kanning

We ran into a reporter from the Union Leader today.  He was at the court looking for info on Russell when we happened to be there.  We talked to him a while.

Glad your home safe Kat and that Russell is o-k . Well considering he is in jail, o-k.
You are some brave folks.
To bad you could not have dressed up as the Blues Brothers with all those cop cars following you. ;D
That is exactly what I told Kat at about Dublin.......they were so bumbling.......you should have seen them try to be sneaky at an intersection where they turned right and both had to flip "U"eys to go our way and then had to run the red light to keep up with us. :)

? ? ?Kanning, an accountant and staunch Libertarian, said last week he hoped his actions would highlight what he considers overly burdensome state intrusion.

Funny phrase they papers have picked up "staunch L(l)ibertarian".....I have never been a member or ever voted for a Libertarian....but I guess you can call me a small "l"er 8)

Now we can mobilize all the Libertarian purists to write to the papers to correct this very grievous error.....this is the best way to get them to do anything. :P

They posted my letter to Harry Browne on Free Market News Network
http://www.freemarketnews.com in the Feedback section.

    Dear Mr. Browne,

I listened to your weekly TV program this morning (can't seem to get video) and felt like you were talking to me and my family. If so, I heard your message and appreciate what you were saying. My husband, Russell, did go though with his event today. He attempted to board a plane without ID and without going through any of the extra indignities the TSA subject people to. He did get arrested. He was so pleasant and cooperative after his arrest that they seem to be charging him with the mildest thing possible. The sheriffs went out of their way to be kind to me.

I'm a great fan of Ayn Rand and understand the danger in self-sacrifice. But the two men so far in our group who have engaged in civil disobedience did not regret it at all. We have come to the conclusion that our government is too far gone to be swayed by only a redress of grievances. We believe we're now living in a police state. When the government is so corrupt, waging war against innocent people for example, it is immoral to continue to comply with their laws. Yet we do not want to harm people ourselves by some sort of revolution. So we settled on non-violent, non-cooperation.

Both of the men who've been involved in the civil disobedience enjoyed the experience greatly. The first, Mike Fisher, who gave me a manicure without a license has made nearly everyone in NH consider the logistics of the licensing law, including the state legislature we hear. I personally can't remember having so much fun as having the FBI follow me in front and behind on the way to the airport. I amused myself greatly by messing with them getting them to turn the wrong ways. We were laughing our heads off.

The great country we've had and are losing was possible because brave men chose to fight for what was right. They risked their lives and livelihoods to fight for freedom. It's not sacrifice if you believe what you will gain in the future is better than what you have now. I don't think we can gain our country back unless we're willing to do something more dangerous than write letters to congress.

There is great power in willingly walking into the jaws of the beast in order to help yourself and your fellow man to the freedom that every individual so rightly deserves. I see it over and over when I talk to people about these events. They start explaining why they can't do it themselves...every time. It creates a subtle pressure in our fellow activists. Maybe they can't get thrown in jail, but they think, "If he can do that, I can at least do a little more than I have been doing."

All that being said, I appreciate all you do to talk to people about liberty, and I'm glad that the Downsize DC people are still trying to make Congress see some reason. I think the combination of those who try to work within the system and those like us who are working outside the system can be very successful. Once we create a stir, the "system" guys can take over and pressure the politicians, and have a bit more leverage in the process.

Dude, they went so crazy with the L stuff for a short while, they forgot about the F group - - - for a while.
The dude who interviewed Kat this fine morning even called himself "a former "big L" libertarian." ?:o

There is a great thing/quote out there somewhere though, which someone said about you while you where away . . . something about you acting normal in a nation full of Kooks . . . seems to me, that's you my friend - normal, and thank you for it!

So glad to see you!

I was at the court all day, and just got back after waiting until 2:35 to possiblely drive Russell back to Keene if needed.? I'll spare you all the details for now..
It was great to see John's smiling face when I entered the courtroom shuffling in my ankle shackles with matching waist/handcuffs and bright orange jumpsuit.
Try to post what you remember from the courtroom, when you can John.
I will try to post things as I remember them and can answer peoples questions as we go along.
