The bottom line is Wal-Mart profits does not stay in Keene or anywhere's else.

Most of it goes to the employees and stock holders.  If you have a large cap mutual fund, you likely get some of the profit  ;D  I know I do  ;)

mutual funds my friend is not what there cracked up to be.For those that believe in Wal-Mart and please don't take this the wrong way but they need help.

No one is forced to work at Walmart  ::)  It's not a slave labor camp.  People work there because it is better than their alternatives.  Do you want to deny them that choice?  I've asked many employees there, and they say they like working there.

And as far as the American dream goes for small business. That is shaterd by Corperations that people are sucked into.

Yes lot of manufaturing jobs went over seas because of Wal-Mart being greedy. Witch has turn into crapy junk.

Wal-Mart pays its employees. Those employees have to have a place to live, they have to buy goods and services, and they have to eat. The money that Wal-Mart pays its employees goes right back into the community through all of these avenues.

Also not true. Manufacturing jobs (as well as many other jobs) have gone overseas because of government regulations making it expensive to do business in the U.S.

The problem is not Wal-Mart. The problem is the government. Get the government out of businesses, and you won't have corporate abuses (including the ones perpetrated by Wal-Mart, and there have been some), because corporations will no longer exist, just businesses. Then everyone will have to compete in the free market.

Concentrate on the government, not on the whipping boy du jour.

Also, before you bring up those documentaries again, I downloaded the PBS one, and another one last night. Once I watch them (probably won't happen until the weekend), I will respond to them here.

Wal-Mart is trying to make the majority of its stock holders as happy as possible.  That is what large, publicly traded companies tend to do.

I tend to shop other places 1st, like Costco or ALDI but I don't own any stock in them :(

And you could have walked around the corner from your place and bought the same thing from the Mom & Pop drug store and supported a local business.
Why should I pay extra money for the same thing? I do not love local business owners more than distant ones.

Walmart's local...only about a mile away.
Hey don't you want people to support your business? Well I think you see my point.

I don't expect anyone to support me just because I am local. They are free to not even like me .... because I am local.

There are reasons that people choose your computer shop over Circut City ..... you must do something better. :)

You can pick up the Keene Free Press at ACTU and you can't at Circuit City!   ;)

I love Wal-Mart, No not every thing they sell is top quality, but the things I buy their are great for the price they ask.

I know a couple of people who work their and they like it.

I wish there was a Wal-Mart super center close to me, the one by my Mom has a great super market.

I guess I am double evil, I buy hard goods and food at the evil Wal-Mart.

QuoteConcentrate on the government, not on the whipping boy du jour.

this is once again, as usual, showing a complete and total lack of understanding of the situation.

the corporations WANT big government because it protects their interests/profits and FEAR the so-called "free market"

the problem here is the folks who are corporate shills - have you never heard of or read any Murray Rothbard on this subject?

it is the exact same analysis as the new left revisionist historians Williams, Kolko, Weinstein...

wake up!

you are all being tools in the corporate misdirection ploy...

How does this contradict what I said?

Yes, of course the corporations want government involvement. I don't know where I said otherwise. Corporations are a government creation. If you get the government out of the equation, there are no more corporations.

It is simple then try and not to support there greed. Mom & Pop places will help you more and they know more about what they sell.
