I was thinking about the whole "If we just hate the "Other" enough we can "Defeat Terrorism".

One of the goals of Islamic Terrorists, who are from many different groups and many different stripes, so can't be even thought of as a single entity, is to make their enemies fearful and angry. To draw us into the quagmire of the Middle East. To create a divide within our society.

So what does FoxNews and others of their kind do? Propagate fear and anger and create divisions. People like Trump and his followers start wanting to create a divide along religious lines... great idea let's give Muslims that are on the fence a push to go more towards the radicals position.

All the loaded language like "Defeat Terrorism" is a big part of the problem. Terrorism is not a gang to defeat it is a tactic.

In the end it comes down to two different views of life... Tribalism or belonging to a gang and individualism. When you see everyone as merely members of a group or gang it makes it easy to kill innocent people and alienate people that aren't even really your enemy.

It's not surprising that many are tribalist. Remember High School sports? Remember history class which was really just geopolitical and warfare history. Most people don't want to kill each other, until the gang leaders send the pawns to fight each other.

You really oversimplified the  real problem, Mr Sawyer.....you ignore the fact that radical islamists ( & there are tens of millions, despite the low-ball, white-wash bullshit numbers bandied about by fools), are hell bent on their interpretation of the  koran......we are seeing this all over the world now.....draw a cartoon of Mohammed. ...get shot/stabbed/blown up.....women assaulted & raped (business as usual in their shithole countries) in every country invaded by muslim hordes. Western culture is diametrically opposite muslim culture. They hate everything about the infidels' way of life....freedom,  especially.  Any LBGTABCDEFG people here should know this by now, as they get tossed off roofs over there, as a regular occurrence.  Stoning and honor killings....these people are entrenched  in the 15th century......except for the cell phones they use for ied's......

Trying to lump Islam as a monolith does not make sense because as said by others on this thread, the majority of the 16 bn Muslims want peace. Most of the radicalisation and terrorism is financed by Saudi Wahabbism. Before banning entry of all Muslims into US, the more important question is why is Saudi Arabia an "ally" of the West and part of the UN Human Rights Committee? What do Trump or other Presidential candidates have to say on this issue I wonder.
