I'm no lawyer and cannot at all say that I know for sure. But I believe that this is not the case. If I'm involved in an auto accident and a policeman arrives on scene, his report is public record. Without the check/balance of public knowledge, police could get away with anything (probably another discussion, I grant you :P).

With or without Miss Canario's participation, they are overstepping the powers the people have entrusted them with and they are doing so to punish a citizen who even by their own hierarchy is guilty only of a civil offense.

I have just spoken to the people who are holding Lauren, they said they are treating her the same way that they treat any thief or murderer that they have in custody.

They probably sneak peeks at this forum...so please quit your job with the county,
because the next person inside, might someday be YOU!

Is Lauren still in the isolation area?  I think they put her in there
to prevent the other people in jail from talking to her and joining the cause.
If they let everyone out of jail that was held for a victimless crime, that
jail on Valley St would be about a quarter of its current size.

Some great heroes have been listed in this thread but right now my number one hero is Lauren Canario. She's in a Manchester jail right now for refusing to show her papers to the Gestapo. I admire her courage and conviction.

All we have heard is that she is "in the bubble". She could be by herself or with many people in that situation. I have not seen the intake area at the manchester jail.
I would guess she is isolated though, for the reasons you mentioned.

The state should not be in the business of "licensing drivers". It could all be handled by private "bonding" services.

Absolutely correct.

You should ask them why they do that.

we will visit Milford soon and harass the cops and or the court or city hall.
Should we find the spot Lauren was arrested and leave a memorial? We could leave ribbons or lambo dolls or teddy bears.
What color should the ribbons be?
We could take pictures and add them to our articles about Lauren's kidnapping. We can chronicle the growth of support.

Last night I dreamt I was at the jail with Jim and a couple other FSPers to try to visit Lauren. Jim was on a cell phone talking to Lauren who was on a cell phone and we could see her through a small window by the thick door between us. I was asking him to ask her some things. Can't remember what. Then suddenly she comes through the door and is in the visiting room with us smiling which seems too good to be true- that they're letting her have a big group visit. Then we find out they're letting her go! Again seems too good to be true. Then this lady comes in and starts talking about Lauren's car and asking why Jim didn't pay the fine and get it out and he explains that it's not his car so he couldn't and Lauren was in jail so *shrug*. Lauren said something really brilliant; can't remember what exactly but exploits some kind of technicality in their bureaucracy and the woman signs out her car. The lady still didn't seem to "get it" but somehow it seemed like the case with Russell where they just didn't want to deal with her anymore.

Then I woke up.  :( Oh well. It was very disappointing but I suppose it's better than some of the anxiety dreams I've been having lately about the tyrants.

People are suggesting that Jim file a Habeas Corpus petition with the Hillsborough Co. Superior Court to get Lauren released.
